I agree with FHagstrom. I think people that left a comment on any blog would definitely bookmark it and then come back to check if the owner have replied to their comments. That’s what I do.

I use a plugin called "Send email only on reply to my comment". It works well for me. I am sure there are many others out there though.

Thank you all for your input! I feel more confident now that it isn't duplicate content... I just had to be sure others have had this same situation and it wasn't something weird I accidentally did in wordpress haha
Cheers :)
Search engines view each blog post as a new page. If two pages have the same content it is duplicate content. I usually set up a page or a blog on one website. Then write an abstract on my second blog and link back to the longer article from the abstract.
I believe Stephanie was asking about 1 post in a category showing up twice.
When a single blog post has been assigned to a different category, not re-written on a new page or post, this isn't seen as duplicate content. This is how many people have their sites set up, with categories on the menu.
Correct me if I'm wrong! :)
Thanks, learn something new here every day. I always thought the blog roll was a list of my past blogs that show up in the side bar. I wasnʻt aware of the category thing in blog rolls. Of course I catagorize each post, but that doesnʻt seem to be what you are talking about @Kathy331. Where can I go to find out more about the set up you are talking about?
You can put your categories on a menu Bill, when that category is clicked from the menu it shows like a blog roll. You can add a post to more than one category as I've done. Look at my site, the only pages are about and contact, the rest are categories. For example, if you click on "articles" it'll show like a blog roll. http://toolsforquilting.com

I have mine set up like that as well. I don't think this is considered duplicate content. On my home page it shows every post, but then if you click on reviews or activities in my menu, you will see some of the same posts that are displayed on the home page.
I think this is how most people do it. I have been checking out many websites and paying attention to this (non WA member sites).
I think you are ok.

Hi Stephanie
Welcome to WA by the way.
It does not sound silly at all there is a big difference between talking to your close bunch of friends and then putting yourself out there on the global stage. It is the sought of thing some people are comfortable with and some are not but either way it is not an issue.
Many people use pen names, Actors, Authors and some of the big Gurus use alternative names for their own niche sites.
They do this mostly to stop their students using their commercial sites as a training ground.
To be honest I use a different name for one of my sites. I use the name of my grandfather who shared the same passion for the niche. It is just my way of honouring him and all that he taught me whilst he was alive.
So there is absolutely nothing wrong with using an alias at all I would go with what ever you feel most comfortable with.
Don't let it stop you moving forward in this exciting opportunity.
However now you have joined WA you might just gain a little more self confidence, Speaking with us on a regular basis. We are quite a friendly crowd you know.
Take care and just go with what feels right for you.

i created a pen name for one of my websites because the particular products I was promoting would be best sold by someone of a specific heritage.
Its up to you. I used my name because it shows people there is a real person who made the site and it's more personal that way.
But how does anyone know that the name you are using is your real name..? :)
Stephanie - nothing to stop you using an alias.. whatever makes you feel comfortable :)
