Hello friends,

Today has been a difficult day for all that lives in Albania. Today in the morning at 3.54 am Albania was hit by a magnitude 6.4 earthquake and the damage it caused was numerous. It is the strongest earthquake we have experienced in the last 40 years, and unfortunately we are not well-prepared for such tragically situations which we should confront with. We are all desperate and in tears for any lives lost under the rubble. Many have been rescued but many are those who no longer live. Until now are 26 persons dead and unfortunately this number can be increased in the coming hours.

Despite the great pain from this situation we will come out stronger. There is a great deal of solidarity among all citizens to help the injured and the homeless in this cold November night.
The values that people have shown today teach us to love more without interest and to offer help the others whenever we can.

Personally I am very grateful that all my family members are all well. We experienced moments of panic and fear as the hit of earthquake lasted over 30 seconds and after that were followed by over 300 smaller more aftershocks.

I hope that the situation with the oscillations will normalize and begin the reconstruction of the destroyed houses as soon as possible.

My prayers and thoughts are for all the hurt. Trials mature us and teach us how to become stronger.

Being part of WA helped me overcome the anxiety I had after the earthquake. After we left home we stayed in the car as it was very cold outside, and while my daughter was sleeping in my arms I decided to read some member posts here in WA. The first post I came across was a training that took some time to read but helped me shift a little of the focus from what had happened and focus on the positivism and motivation we get from each other as we write and share between us.

I thank you all for taking your time and for sharing your posts with everyone here.
Whatever you write, questions, comments, training, inspirational and motivational posting, or anything else, I assure you that it brings positive impact to anyone who takes the time to read it.
Hoping to have only beautiful things today and forever.

Thank you for your time in reading this post.

You're welcome for any like or comment if you prefer.

Blessings to all of you!

So glad to hear that you and your family are all ok. I hope your property was not damaged and you are able to resume your life safely very soon.
Natural disasters are difficult even when injury and death are not in our circle of family and friends.
As we look around the world at wildfires, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, cyclones, and tornados it makes us realize how vulnerable we are.
It reminds me of why we must live in the moment and not be focussed on the past or future, NOW is the moment which is most important and should be enjoyed to its fullest!
Best wishes to you, your family and friends ...

Allan

Good Morning Alketa,

You and your family are safe and that is a blessing. Sadly people died and the destruction is big. These type of happenings bring people together and shows that humans are good when there is a need.
Wishing you all the best in these difficult times, stay strong.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Thank you Taetske. You right, these days people are together more than ever.
Greetings from Tirana,Alketa

I was very sad to hear about the earthquake and was hoping that you and your family (and everyone else) were okay...I remember my days in Tirana and remember how nice the people were while there...

I had some great people working with me there and we were able to help a lot of families and businesses. As soon as I heard about the earthquake I started doing some research to learn more...

These kinds of disasters will often bring people together and it sounds like that is what is happening. It is terrible for everyone and at this time of year, the cooler weather exacerbates things...

Praying for you all and do hope that many lives can be saved over the coming days. I am sure that many other countries are helping out as well in the search for people that may be in the rubble...

Take care of yourself, and glad to hear you are okay...

Thank you Dave for your encouragement words. I appreciate.
All the best to you

I am so sorry to hear of this Alketa! Almost exactly a year ago we had a 7.1 earthquake centered very near our home here in Alaska. I know how you feel. Most of our buildings are made to withstand earthquakes so there were no lives lost, thank goodness.

There was damage however to buildings, roads destroyed and we lost power and heat. It is also cold here in November. We had no water or heat but luckily we did not have to evacuate.

I am glad your family is safe. I hope your home is still livable.

Best wishes. I know the aftershocks are unnerving and scary. We are still having them a year later but the first few weeks they were constant.

Jessica

Thank you Jessica. The aftershocks will go on for many other days and people are feeling terrified after each of them. Fortunately my home is still livable, but at the first floor of our building have been some damages and everyone is scared because we don't know what will bring tomorrow.
You know how we feel and I'm sorry that you have experienced the same panic, but we can't stop these phenomens, only should be prepared how to face them.
All the best

Sorry to hear that. My heart goes out to those who did not make it.

Reminds me of the July 1990 7.2 magnitude killer quake that struck our nation where thousands of people had died. It was pretty scary especially with the seemingly unending aftershocks.

I'm just glad you and your family are okay, Alketa.

Thank you Alysanna, I'm so sorry that I've remanded you your nation's loss.
Best wishes to you
Alketa
