When you're working on your own website, you need to know How Well You Know Your Target Client

Hello everyone!

I must say, one of the main reasons for my firsts blogs failing was because I didn't pay much attention to who was my client.

I used to think everyone will love to read my blog and they will follow me!

Ha! Nobody followed me and nobody read my blog.

But I kept working like that for months, and I can even say for years!

What happened... I never reached my goals or dreams!

Then, one day I was told I needed to know who was my client!

- I don't sell anything on my blog. I said to that person.

- You don't sell anything, but you want to be found and you want to get readers on your blog. This person told me.

Voila, that was the point.

When you don't know who is your client or your target client, they will have a hard time to find you, so today I will share a few points I have in my mind every time I write a new post for my website.

Who Is Your Target Client?

Whether you're working on a niche site or promoting WA, you need to know who is reading your post and why they want to read them.

  • Know who reads your post - Men, women, old, young?

In your niche men and women might want something different, and young people in your niche might be facing different problems than older people.

Lets think about finances,

Young people might be looking to save enough money to travel to visit different countries and meet more people.

Older people might be thinking about its time to save enough money to have a secure old age in their lives.

If you're writing about saving money, you need to know who are you talking to, young or older people, help them and they will read your article, as you create more post for your blog, Google will know more about what your website is about and you will rank better.

  • What problems do they need - Each niche has its own problems, the person who needs help on your niche, will be typing on Google a particular question.

Lets keep thinking about the same example I gave you above.

Young people might be facing the problem about how to save enough money while they are still at school, and how to find traveling opportunities while still being a student, or why not how to make a school year in a different country.

Older people might be looking to know how to make some extra money or how to cut out some expenses while keeping a good lifestyle.

  • What language they use - I don't mean English, Spanish or other language, you need to know what words they use on the language you write for your website.

English is my second language and I still need some help with it as I write a new post for my website, but I'm working to know who is my target client and what words they use.

Why? Let me give you an example.

When people type any question they will use their own language or their own language style.

One day my son told me when he was still a young kid, he learned this at school and he was shocked:

He needed to know 5 different ways to speak his mother tongue, the teacher told his class:

1 - The language you used to talk to your family

2 - The language you used to talk to your teachers at school

3 - The language you used to talk politely to your grand parents, aunts, uncles or older people you meet for the first time.

4 - The language you used to talk with your classmates or school mates.

5 - The language you used to talk with your best friends.

I might dare to tell you I can see you thinking on the different ways you talk to each person you meet everyday!

This list will help you to write the new titles for your new content for your website, why?

Because it will help your client to find you!

People are used to typing their questions on Google with their own language!

If you want to find your client, write your titles with the language they use... you will see how well they can find you.

Now, there's something more to add here!

As we keep working on our websites, and learning more about who is our client is a task that can take some time to find out, things can get changed or more complicated this year.

Yes, 2020 was a surprise for almost everyone, I was not the exception!

As I saw different changes popping up here and there, I got to read something that was interesting!

On 2020 your target client has changed!

People around the world are facing new challenges to keep on going every day, you know your niche and you might know what problems your target client is facing today!

Listen to your client, hear them!

You need to know what their problems are today, and help them out!

Kyle wrote a great blog about, you need to write for real people!

They are facing their own problems and dreams, help them to achieve their goals and dreams!

Keep working on your website, you will achieve your goals and dreams, I know that!

Thanks for reading and thanks for sharing my blog!

Alejandra.

I have found that my weakness in this industry is research! Knowing who I am talking to helps me know what to say and what to look for in helping them, for the biggest part of what we do here is find and solve problems.

I am grateful for the 5 parts of using language, I never noticed that much in my English speaking world, however in trying to learn Russian, there are ways one speaks to different groups in society.

Super glad I found this post. Thanks.

Scott.

Good morning Alejandra,
this was a very informative post, and thank you for the points you brought up.

You are very correct, in that we do speak differently to the people around us, and they do not all understand the same topics, as they may not be relevant to them.

Being in sales and marketing my entire life, I can understand that. Even speaking Spanish to 80% of my clients, I found certain ways to explain or share something to a certain group, which was not the same as to other groups.

Thank you for the info, and for reminding us, as this is crucial to connecting with your audience.

Have a wonderful Friday!

Carla
