6 Days With No Internet And A Visit To The Hospital

The internet company did it again!

It happened last Friday, everything was great at home and the next thing we knew internet was gone!

- Well, we (my husband, who is also a member at WA and me) thought, internet is gone, it will come back in a moment.

That could be the natural way to react when internet service is off.

After a half an hour, that didn't look nice, and I started to wonder if I should could the company to ask them what was the problem, but I've learned to stay in calm and wait.

Three hours later, I told my husband it was time to give the company a call, and so I did,

- Sorry, the internet will be back next Monday or Tuesday!

That was the answer to my call! and I need to tell you the phone call to this company cost from 9 to 15 dollars!!

So, I had to tell myself to keep calm and find something to do and make the best of the weekend with no internet at home!.

This is the reason why I haven't read your blogs and give you any like or comments, no internet at home :(

Weekend plans changed!

I got a phone call from my boss, and she told me if I could baby sitter the three boys (8 years now) for the weekend!!

I made a small bag to spend two days in a house with internet... lucky me!!

So I packed my laptop too and I spend the two days with the boys, I just had a little time to be connected as the boys kept me busy most of the time. But at least I could be in touch with my family just to say hello to them.

Back home on Sunday afternoon and no internet at home yet!

The good point about living a few days with no internet at home was I could work on something else and I found I could make a lot of work for my quilting website.

As I have a few programs to work on to make a few videos and photos ready to write a few posts in advance, that work kept me busy and I'm happy to tell you I could make three videos, they are ready to get on YouTube and keep them on "private" mode to be shared when the post are ready to be shared on my website. :)

It's always a good idea to get something to work if the internet service fails :)

By Monday morning, I called again to the Internet Company and I asked them if there was any good news for us, just hoping to get a good answer for them, wishing to get lucky and get the internet service back sooner.

- Oh, the weather is not good, and our employee can't work today, you'll get the internet service by the end of the week!

Just like that! Two and a half more days with no internet at home!!

Time to think on plan B

If this company leave us with no internet service for 6 days, on Summer when the weather is nice, (it was raining, but not too bad), I don't want to think what is going to happen during the hard and cold Canadian Winter!!!

It's time to review on other companies that give the internet service in the area, get their phone number or their websites and check: quality and price.

By Tuesday night, I was getting used to live with no internet and life was getting better...

I was getting ready to get in bed, and that was the moment I noticed I had a "nasty" bug in the back of one of my knees!!!!!

I got in panic, as it was almost 10 pm, the pharmacy might be closed, so I told my husband I had to go the hospital... fast!!

So we did, and two nurses took care of that "nasty bug", and they asked me where did I get it?

It happened during the weekend :(

So, I just need to pay attention to myself for the next 30 days, if nothing happens I'll be OK, but if I notice any symptoms I will need to go and see my doctor.

So far, so good!! I'm feeling OK today.

Back to normal life!

Internet is back and I can keep working on my websites, I have ready some videos and post to share with my audience.

It' so good to be back!!

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog and feel free to comment!

Dear Alejandra!
I empathize with you! We have WIFI in our the county, in Eastern Washington State. We do not have a choice of other services. Like you, we also are very remote and do not have cell phone coverage. With the abundance of old growth Pine, Tamarack, Cottonwood, and birch trees, limbs and trees are bound to fall on our lines. The county commissioners with all their wisdom decided to sting the WiFi lines right on the same poles as the power lines! So when the winter snow flies (we get several feet each year) or the summer winds banshee us, down come the power lines along with the internet, leaving us without the phone service, power, water, and internet service. To make matters further complicated my husband is on dialysis and is sent away to the nearest location with an up and running dialysis center. In order to survive, we keep propane, gasoline, a huge generator, and ten cords of wood in supply at all times. Sooner than later, I am going to write a blog, about preparedness. We live with these problems every day. It was so lovely to hear from a friend who shares these problems. (Even the creepy insects) During an ice storm, we were down for sixteen days!
Your friend, Sandy

Dear Sandy,
I empathize with you too, I read your comment and I know you live in a place with more problems than me, and I understand you more, as you need to care about your husband too. Must be so hard for you to live everyday doing you best!
It's true, some times mother natures is beautiful and brings the best of it to everyone that lives in the country, but some days it can turn hard on us, and we need to deal with it the best we can.
Some days are nicer and some days not, I would love to read your blog when you write it, I still need to learn a lot about living in the country in a country with long and hard weather winters.
Take care of yourself, I'll be thinking on you, hope everything goes ok for you and your husband.
Alejandra.

Good to know that all is well again. Sometimes not having any internet can be a blessing in disguise, but it's a real worry if you absolutely need to do something online, so it's definitely a good idea not only to look at other internet providers, but also to ask friends which ones they are using and how reliable the service is.

Wishing you all the best,
Isabella

Great to get unscrambled Alejandra!

You are still alive, life goes on and you got a break from the routine. Sometimes these things seem like a nuisance at the time but the great thing is that you are good to go now.

Yes, you're so right, I need to learn to live with no internet at home and find the good that life can bring us at any moment!
Thank you ! :)

Good afternoon Alejandra,

Dear me, what a story. I think you do well investigating other companies and see if they work better, 6 days is too long without internet.
To have a nasty bug on top of that is really too much.
Hopefully, all will be back to normal real soon and you will be 100% ok again.

All the best, Taetske

Thank you Taetske,
Yes, I'm already working on getting some companies names to get a better internet service full time and not only three weeks per month.
People here in the area live now with the "garrapatas" problem as part of our regular life, it's getting bad as I talk with some friends who also had the same problem often.
It could be a good niche, as people are looking for a way to spend time outdoors during this time of the year without this problem.
Have a wonderful day!
Alejandra

Garrapatas are no fun and especially now with the hierba grown high there are a lot of them. take care.

Taetske

That was the problem, I spend some time with the three boys in their yard and grass was high, :(
Not nice at all but I'm ok now, I will take more care when I go outdoors, shoes, socks and long pants even during Summer,
Thanks Taetske.
