Have You Ever Been a Gollum? Super Affiliate Challenge (SAC) 2019-2020

Have you ever wanted something so bad you could taste it? Something you begged, borrowed, hoped, and pleaded that you could grab hold of that thing and never let it go?

And yet, in reality, you really had no idea what you were asking for. Something that, once you got that magic ring you desired so much, you were a bit overwhelmed by the sheer enormity of its true power?

In other words… have you ever been a Gollum?

This, my friend, was me. And this is my experience inside this year’s Super Affiliate Challenge (SAC) thus far; it has been an absolute mind-blowing month.

This year’s SAC started with a bang on April 2nd. We all hit the ground running. To put everything into perspective, between my new website, my WA Blog here, and working with the WA community, I have written nearly 20,000 words this month, with as many as 6000 in a single day.

I officially launched my brand, Writerion, a website dedicated to promoting affiliate marketing to writers frustrated by failing to earn a living from their passion and skills with the written word.

I completed the Online Entrepreneur Certification (OEC) program some time ago, but as the SAC is focused exclusively on building a WA promotional site, I am working my way through the Affiliate Bootcamp (AB) as we speak. While similar to the OEC program, the Bootcamp is laser focused on Wealthy Affiliate. Perfect for the Super Affiliate Challenge.

Because I have the artistic talent of a three-toed sloth sipping NyQuil, I hired a graphic artist over at Fiverr to create a logo for the site. I gave him a rough idea of what I was looking for and what colors I would like. Nothing fancy, but I think it turned out pretty well.

Rather than prattle on and on about the minutia of building a website – you can see all the grimy details in the training programs – I was going to attach a screen shot of the Month One Task Checklist at the end of this post, BUT... it was too damn big! :-)

So, instead, you can see it here. As you can see, it is an insane amount of work!

So, as we are nearing the end of April, let’s see how I did…

I won’t lie. It has been an exhausting month. Yet, it was still an exciting one.

I have completed all of the tasks except one. I am only up to eight articles overall, so it'll be tight to hit my twelve for the month, but I intend to push it over the next few days, so fingers crossed.

I've been really trying to help as many people as I can inside WA. I've posted a few blogs, and I am answering comments as fast as my fat fingers will fly. lol

Even though I no longer consciously "chase" my WA rank and just let the chips fall where they may, I was quite surprised to see that I had moved up roughly 10 spots (give or take, depending on the day) since starting SAC. It's a good feeling.

I made a few minor tweaks here and there to the site, mainly just adding the free website widget in the sidebar and cleaning up a few things.

My proudest accomplishment thus far is by far my WA review. I kept putting it off all month,

making excuses as to why I was too busy to start it. The truth is that I just found it a daunting task and was trying to find any way I could to "weasel" out of it. (Have you ever weaseled?)

Fortunately, my guilt of facing all of my SAC peers got the better of me, and I decided to just set everything else aside and work on the darn thing…

By the way, that level of accountability is one of the BEST benefits to participating in the Super Affiliate Challenge. Do you know what’s harder than facing an angry mob? Facing a disappointed one.

Thus, over a period of a couple of days, I buried my head in the computer, wrote everything I could think of, incorporated lines from various WA pages to fill in the rest, and did a ton of screen captures. I'm happy to say the final result clocked in at nearly 4500 words! (yeah... I couldn't believe it either.) I'd still like to add a section of "bonuses", but I just ran out of steam. I can always add to it as time goes on I suppose. So it goes.

Hopefully, it does the trick.

For what it’s worth, I even liked it so much I added to my main menu as a "Start Here" link.

I also decided to get one more WA post up before the start of May as well (the one your reading right now.) It’s just a diary of sorts; a documentation of my first month's experience for non-SAC members to see.

Maybe it will inspire you... or maybe it will scare the hell out of you. Either way, there it is.

That's about it, friend. That is life inside the Super Affiliate Challenge. Just grinding it out, one word at a time, and I wouldn't give it up for the world. This experience has pushed me beyond my perceived limits and it is exhilarating.

One month down, only 15 more to go :-)

Please, don’t ever let anything stand in the way of your dream… even if you have to dive into the fiery depths of Mount Doom to grab it!

Take care.

An interesting post.

Thank you.

Looks like you're kicking some SAC derriere AJ, nice job. Getting that solid foundation in the early stages is key, I think, so we're not playing catch-up all the time. Be well.

You, too. It's been a hard fought battle, but it'll be worth it in the end. Thanks for reading :-)

WOW, great work - like your logo. I so agree with how busy it is.
I must admit I have been a Gollum too at times.
I’ve been trying to get some training in too as I went through OEC with my first site.
15 months seems like a long way off but I’m sure it will go quickly if this last month is any indicator!

Yeah, I'm sure it will fly by... a month SOUNDS like a long time until you see the SAC checklist. lol

Thanks for reading.

Thank you AJ.

I have just come up for air after being engrossed in your "my WA review"
So much information & details to absorb.

It has given me a kick in the butt to get moving myself at WA.

I will keep following you & other SAC members with the strategy to participate in Los Vegas.

Denis

Thank you, Denis. As long as you don't give up, you will get there. True, it's hard work, but it's totally worth it.

Take care, friend :-)

My friend, my SAC Conrad, I feel every word that you have just written, I am wearing the same boots that you are wearing, I have finished all of our April requirements, except my logo which is being created as we speak, and I need, 4000 more words. My wealthy affiliate review has already been index, all I can say is wow. I have such respect and pride for you and all of our SAC comrades, because like you I am one that truly knows this is indeed a challenge. However, I know none of us will stop, or will give up, we will succeed.

Absolutely... we must stay the course and we can't leave anyone behind. And congratulations. You are totally crushing it, friend :-)

Brilliant AJ well done

Love it. I have a few more blog post to write to complete that task and have been lagging in the other tasks.

Reading your post as inspired me, thank you

Have a great day and brilliant week

Jennifer

Thank you. I am truly humbled every time someone says I've inspired them. I cannot put into words how much that means to me. :-)

You are most welcome AJ

Thank you

All the best in making it happen

Have a great week

Jennifer

Well, you got me beat with words...I am only up to 14,000. And, yes, I have been a gollum.

I know what you mean about the WA review. Took me 3 1/2 days to write mine, and convinced me that writing reviews is HARD! And now I have a ton more to write. Just finished one today; it will have to wait till Monday because I have a post to put on the cat site tomorrow. Also working on a revamp of my whole menu for the cat site...hope to get it completed tomorrow.

Enough! Yes, the amount of work is crazy, but am hanging in there.

Fran

Good for you, Fran. I always knew you could do it :-)

Keep up the great work.

Hello there Mr glad your are part of the SAC and I look forward to working this challenge alongside you :) Thanks for the positive compliment in chat :) your kind words will travel me far into my nightly work.

Thank you. And I meant every word :-)

this is actually a very super busy day for us.

Thank you.

Much more well said than anything I have tried. You pretty much hit every point in the SAC. I do like the motivation of the disappointed mob...great analogy.

I try and weasel my way out of things all the time on my sites, but I then remember why I am doing it.

Like I said, you summed it up well. Well done on the words and posts. Someday I will achieve your level of writing skill

Cheers!

Thanks, buddy. But don't sell yourself short. I've read your work, and you could give ol' Mark Twain a run for his money :-)

Stay awesome, friend.
