Try Pomodoro
Hello everyone, I wish you all the best. How many of you ever heard of pomodoro studies? On the next few paragraphs we will be going over on what they are. Lets just say pomodoro studies teaches you how to use your time more effectively without getting distracted. Also, lets say if you're at work or at school, it's best to go on a deep focus for up to 25 minutes and take a mini break for a few minutes in between. The best way to take a break is not by sitting and watching youtube videos about cats. It's best to engage in some form of physical activity if you are taking a mini break. This helps refuel your brain once you start on your task again. It's best to do these in four intervals. Meaning study for 25 minutes at a time with short breaks in between for a total of four times, and then take a very long break. I would say anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour. Perhaps 90 minutes at most if you really need it.![]()
Helps increase productivity in less time
Some studies have shown if an individual practices The Pomodoro technique, they will be able to get a lot done in very little time. Let's say it usually takes you two-three hours if not more to do your homework at night. If you practice the pomodoro technique you may be able to cut those hours by a third, or half if not more depending how disciplined you are. So instead of taking three hours to complete you homework; you may be able to finish it in as little as forty-five minutes to one hour. As the saying goes work smarter. Not harder. Always engage in some form of physical activities if you are taking your mini breaks.
Do NOT overthink time
It's understandable that many of us have hectic schedules, and we are enslaved to think we don't have time to do pretty much anything. The best thing to do is to drop that mentality. You do have time to accomplish many of your goals. Do not focus how much time it'll take to complete a task or a goal. You'll be wasting more time just thinking about how much time it will take you to complete a task. As, I may be wasting time trying to repeat what I just said. If that makes sense. It's best not to overthink and just do it. Time shouldn't be a chore. Time is what makes many people anxious. Don't let time get to you. Best yet, always plan ahead.
Self-discipline
As the saying goes. If you want to be helped. You must be able to help yourself. A typical pomodoro session has you focus on one task only. There will be no interruptions. No facebook. No
texting. No emailing. No Youtube. No looking at adult content videos. None of that till later. Don't get any wise ideas. You must limit your distractions and try your best to control your urges while you're trying to complete a serious task that needs to be done. If this helps. Think of it as a life and death situation. Well, maybe not to that extreme, but you know what I mean. Multitasking has a negative impact and can definitely slow down progress. Possibly get you disciplined at work or worse fired. Don't let anything or anyone distract you. Not even your loved ones.
According to one study at The University of California Irvine. It can take as long as twenty-three minutes and fifteen seconds to refocus if you switch to another task, compared to the task that you were doing before. I got this info from this website called, focusboosterapp.com/blog/the-science-behind-the-pomodoro-technique/. So, you should credit this individual. :)
Take mini breaks
Yes, as I mentioned in the very beginning it's best to take breaks that involve physical activities. This will help refuel your brain and help you concentrate better on your tasks. According to Psychology Today our brains wonder thirty percent of the time. Yes, thirty percent. Some people may find that hard to believe, but that is what statistics state to be. With The Pomodoro Technique you must be able to assert your attention to a certain important task for twenty-five minutes straight. That is without any distractions. Many studies have found that short breaks help keep your attention span on track, but most importantly make sure those short breaks focuses on engaging in physical activities. Just like a car that needs to be refueled and all that. Our minds will lose juice(zone out) after working consistently on one project.
In conclusion
Even though my niche is about health and fitness. Think of this subject as mental health. Not to mention it does state that you must engage in physical activities when you take a mini break. The Pomodoro technique is a great way to keep your motivation on the high side. Maybe even beyond that. It can fuel your decision making. Your decisions will be more logical if you practice this technique. Taking breaks is very important too. We are not robots or ants. You must be able to self-discipline yourself and resist unwanted urges. STAY FOCUS!!! Do not overthink time, but best yet in general don't overthink anything. Just do it or you will be wasting more time. The more you self-discipline the more you achieve in very little time, and that means you get to have more fun and do whatever you want. Except for breaking the law. Just common sense you know. :)

Adam, I've never heard of it but that's what I've been practicing to be more productive
This sounds really interesting and I can't wait to learn more
I will visit the provided links to learn more
Thank you for sharing and have a blessed Sunday ahead
Yeah, a lot of people are not familiar with this technique. I’m glad I shared it. More people will know about this.
Hi Adam
It’s good to see you take action when given an idea!
Other studies have shown that we are able to concentrate intently (do productive work) for up to 4 hours each day. This doesn’t mean do nothing with the rest of the day! But it is why 4 Pomodoro sessions each day are proven to be exceptionally productive. I use a Pomodoro timer mainly when studying, doing research, writing, or other tricky work that I find less than exciting. Just knowing that I can stop in 25 mins for a short break helps me to focus in the moment.
I use a timer called Toggl in Chrome (or Firefox) which is free and also integrates with my favourite writing tool - Notion.os
:-)
Richard
I’m glad you told me about pomodoro. Had no idea what it was. Now I have a better understanding of it. Not that many people know about it.
This was very interesting Adam! So something physical could be another job that needs attention, right? The wind blasted my yard apart, 3 windstorms in a week that is. Messy mess, So I already did the thinking part of trying to prevent this problem outside from happening again, it's now, lots of little prep jobs, like digging to lay stepping stones, etc. Do you think this might work? Because it has to get done too, and there is only me to do it.
Thank you for this post, and I like the 60 to 90 minute big break, it's reasonable, makes the other parts, well actually I like them too.
Suzay
I’m quite sure it’ll work while you’re working on the yard. Windstorms are no fun. Last night while I was sleeping I felt and earth quake here in California. It was a small one though 5.0. Take it easy with the yard work though. Give the pomodoro technique a try and see if it’s for you.
Neither have I, until today. My friend on here mentioned it to me and I spent quite a bit of time doing research lol

Hey Adam, when I saw the title I thought you were going to educate us on the benefits of eating a certain Italian tomato sauce!!
But this is a technique I had not heard of before, it seems very interesting and anything that can help increase productivity is well worth a try in my book!
Thanks for the share my friend and enjoy a wonderful Sunday!
lol Italian sauce does sound delicious. Seems like a lot of people haven’t heard of it. I didn’t hear about it till yesterday and did some research about it.
And what great research it was my friend!
I'm on the same page as you Nick. I also thought it was going to be a blog post on Pomodoro recipes!! 😂 However, I have to say this concept provided some valuable methods that we would do well to put into practice. Thanks Adam for sharing this. Would have not known of it otherwise. Much appreciated.
Maria
Great minds think alike Maria!😁
But I do agree with you that the concept is very interesting indeed!
Have a fantastic start to the week my friend!:-)
A little late to wish you a great start. Hoping your week is going well Nick. Enjoy the rest!
