It's been a while - so here's a poem

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT ...

I've been a bit busy lately and haven't found the time for lessons or even research to add content on my software for home business website, the affiliate site I registered, or even the newest addition to my portfolio - my writing and poetry site. In the meantime, I have joined a writers' support group to try and get back into developing and writing my novels ... o_O ... yes, I said novels - because I`m not the type of person to do anything the easy way. Instead, my plan is to write the two novels simultaneously beacuse they involve the same theme and characters.

So, by way of getting back into my Wealthy Affiliate habit of posting regularly, I present to you a poem which I wrote for my son on his entry into elementary school.

It was difficult seeing him off to school that first day - but now I look back and wonder why the fuss. We all went off to school for the first time at some point in our young existence filled with fear, or excitement or perhaps awe at this new adventure in our lives. Some of us excelled, some of us yelled, and still others were expelled.

No matter where you finished, or didn't finish, you're not here to be judged, but to be entertained - I hope this poem touches a few emotions in each of you as you read it. I wrote these words over eight years ago, yet I still find sometimes the words, and the scenes they evoke can move me.

My Little One

You were born on a Sunday, two minutes past two.
It was long hours of waiting for that first glimpse of You.
A newborn so small, so fragile and sweet,
So quiet and gentle with tiny little feet.

You used to sleep so deep on my chest.
In my hands as I carried You, did You have a rest.
I've watched You grow with wonder and awe,
From a babe to a toddler, six plus years in all.

The years have gone fast, as fast as You run,
My darling, my angel, my most beautiful son.
My young superhero in your Batman costume,
Or Spiderman or Buzz as You fly 'cross the room.

Are you growing too fast, or is it just me?
Your excitement and wonder at the new things You see.
Your enthusiasm and love I wish I could harness,
To keep with me always in moments of darkness.

As You embark on this journey of school and of learning,
I'll be here to help guide You, as my torch keeps on burning.
If my flame should extinguish and can't light Your way,
Remember I love You, forever and a day.
