Introduction.

I asked ChatGPT to put together an action plan for me for the next 3 months, and even though it is niche specific to my health, wellness and mindfulness site, I believe the results may help others. Thus the reason I am sharing, caring and beering..whoops..no beer.

This was the initial prompt..."Please advise me and provide a 3-month plan to increase YouTube subscribers on my channel. Healthy Living with Steve - YouTube. Please break it down into a daily action plan starting from July 1st. I will accept all advice and critique of my channel. Thanks. "

I am sooo polite to AI, just in case... lol.

Also, if you do look at my site , subscribe and I will return the favor amigo.

Channel Audit & Strategic Setup (Week 1)

Day 1–2 – Branding & Channel Layout

  • Review your channel name, logo, banner, and trailer: ensure they clearly communicate your niche.
  • Organize your homepage into sections: playlists, short-form vs. long-form videos, best-of compilations .

Day 3–4 – Define Audience & Content Plan

  • Identify your target viewer. What problems do they have? What do they love?
  • Plan weekly content themes, including one pillar video (e.g., tutorials, deep dives), one short/video, and one community update.

Day 5 – Metadata Mastery

  • Optimize titles, thumbnails, descriptions, and tags. Include relevant keywords—and consider adding subtitles for accessibility and reach .

Day 6–7 – Record a Channel Intro Video

  • Introduce yourself, channel purpose, posting schedule, and call to action (subscribe & community tab). Pin this as your channel trailer.

July Content Strategy & Community Building (Week 2-4)

  • Consistency: Post at least 2 pillar videos/week, 3 Shorts.
  • Community Tab: Use polls, previews, behind-the-scenes content weekly from 500 subs onward .
  • Live capability: Experiment with short livestreams to increase real-time engagement .
  • Cross-promotion: Feature creators in your niche, both in videos and via shout-outs—audience overlap drives growth (youtube.com).
  • Improve Thumbnails & Hook: Study trending niches and craft visually cohesive, clickable thumbnails.

Weekly Tasks:

  • Monitor analytics: views, watch time, subscriber growth.
  • Adjust posting days based on best-performing content.
  • Engage daily: reply, pin comments, interact in Community Tab.

Optimization & Growth Push (Week 5-9)

Monthly Goals:

  • Ramp up Shorts to 5/week.
  • Launch 8–10 pillar videos (~200 subs/month target).
  • Conduct 2 live Q&As or behind-the-scenes stream sessions.

Weekly Focus:

  • SEO Deep Dive: Every Monday, identify trending tags/niches via YouTube’s search suggestions.
  • Thumbnail A/B Testing: Test 2 styles to see what boosts click-throughs.
  • Collaborations: Partner with another YouTuber at least once weekly.
  • Call to Subscribe: Include brief verbal/pinned invites in every video.

Engagement Plan:

  • Reply to all comments within 24 hrs.
  • Highlight good comments on a monthly “fan spotlight” Short or community post.

Scaling & Monetization (Week 9-12)

Content Expansion:

  • Increase pillar videos to 3/week.
  • Maintain ~5 Shorts weekly.
  • Add 1 livestream every 10 days.

Advanced Techniques:

  • Playlists & Watch Time Funnels: Use end screens/cards directing viewers to binge-worthy playlists.
  • Diversify Content Types: Case studies, reviews, or trending challenges in your niche.
  • Mid-Video CTAs: Subtle prompts at 30–60 sec mark (“Like & subscribe if you’re finding this useful!”).

Monthly Review (End of September):

  • Evaluate which series/topics significantly drive subs.
  • Retire underperforming video types.
  • Reinvest time into proven formats.
  • Add subtitles to all videos to reach non-native or hearing-impaired viewers (artists.youtube, vidiq.com, youtube.com, youtube.com).

Constructive Critique

  • Branding: Ensure your visuals and intro align tightly with your niche.
  • Consistency: Stick to a predictable schedule—audience retention grows from reliability.
  • Thumbnail Quality: Bolder fonts, easy-to-read titles, compelling images.
  • Metadata Clarity: Titles should be searchable; descriptions need CTAs and timestamps.
  • Engagement: Two-way communication (comments & community tab) builds loyalty.
  • Experimentation: Test content types often—some niche ideas may surprise you.

Key Success Boosters

  • Use Shorts to carousels into long-form content.
  • Collaborations double exposure.
  • Community Tab & Lives drive audience loyalty.
  • Analytics guide optimization—most would-be creators skip this step.
  • SEO & accessibility (tags + subtitles) open doors to wider audiences.

Final Tips

  • Set clear, modest goals (e.g. +50 subs/month initially).
  • Track momentum weekly, adjust what underperforms.
  • Keep thumbnails/branding consistent.
  • Celebrate milestones (e.g. 500, 1k subs) with community shoutouts.
