Sex,money and power are what motivates some people to succeed. But what about the failures?.We love to hear about the successes in Affiliate marketing, but not everyone makes it...why? We all hope we win the jackpot but less than 10% of Affiliate marketers make a reasonable amount of money. In spite of a surge in people joining affiliate programs a lack of knowledge and improper methods have been the cause of many failures.

Know the enemy

If we are aware of some of the reasons for failure this will keep us aware and make us stronger. Some of the failures can be put down to the following reasons.

1) Choosing the wrong Affiliate program. There are a lot of scams and hype on the internet and people wanting your hard earned cash.If you choose the wrong company that has no support and little interaction between members life will get tough. However count your lucky stars because Wealthy Affiliates has an excellent training program and a wonderful supportive mix of people all willing to help. We are already ahead, we just need to follow the program. Also we have two excellent Facilitators in Kyle and Carson whose experience and advice are second to none.

2) Neglecting your website. Keeping your website up to date and informative is the only way to increase traffic. If you let this slip you are writing your own death warrant. Remember, write, write and write about your niche and then write some more. Look for different ideas. Add pictures, people love pictures and video. Look for fresh new content you can add to your website concerning your niche market. And remember to write.

3) Lack of training. You must invest time to learn about your new market. It never stops but at the start you have a steep learning curve. WA have a lot of training material, even outside the Online Entrepreneur Certification course....make use of it. Also there is a lot of information on You Tube. Type in "Top 10 Affiliate marketing You Tube videos" and see what you get. It's gold. Don't skip your training and try to do it sequentially. It is organised this way for a reason. Improving your knowledge will help ensure your success.

4) No set goal or time investment. A lot of people put down very loose goals and then wonder why they don't have success. If you don't know what you want you won't get anything. This is your business and most businesses will write business plans, cash flow projections, profit and loss statements and more. I am not suggesting you have to go and do this but what about putting in firm 3,6,9 and 12 month goals. It might only be 1 or 2 paragraphs outlining what you want to achieve and where you expect to be at the end of each quarter. For example; At the end of 3 months I would like to have my website up and ranked by google. I would like to have finished training up to level 4. I expect to spend 5-6 hours per day to achieve this. ( And so on)

5) One which i came close to doing was trying to run too many Affiliate programs. It can be stressful as well as dificult to juggle a lot of affiliate programs at the start. I now have 4 affiliate programs ( Which is probably too many) and that is enough. I have heard it is possible to promote several different programs but at the start of my Affiliate journey this is enough. I have a great range of products and services with the groups I belong too and they all have products and services that fit my niche.

6) Stroke me, Stroke me..Not being selfish enough. It is wonderful to help people and it is something we should all do. As a newbie the help I have received is amazing and I also try to reciprocate and help others. However some of us ( Me included) get a buzz when people say thanks, what a great help you have been. Sometimes we have to make time for us. Make sure you are looking after yourself as much as you help others. I have an empathic nature and it is very easy for me to help others to the detriment of my needs. I am not saying don't help, I am saying balance it with what you need as well.

7) Not enough promotions or Advertisements.Your success is dependent on how well you write for your website and how well you make your products and services known to the public. Insufficient and inefficient marketing will cause your downfall. Aren't I a bundle of laughs. But you are lucky because the training will show you how to go about capturing clients and no and low cost ways of advertising. Don't forget those you tube videos and there is a wealth of information amongst the members of WA. We just need to ask. In some cases those members will step forward on their own accord. 8) Giving up too soon. I have never done this before but I always hear people say "give it time" I don't know how much but I guess it is different for all of us. When I first started teaching ESL in Vietnam I new I wanted my own school. I didn't know how long it would take but i treated my teaching time like an apprenticeship. I gave it 3 - 4 years. And in year % it happened . Small at first with only 10 people, but now I have 2 schools with over 300 students. So. I look at this the same way. I am in my apprenticeship and it is up to me how long I have to wait. But I won't give up too soon.

9) Failure to understand your niche market. Make sure you have a good understanding of your market, if you try to wing it you will crash. Also in this I would include "know your competition"

We can make a lot of money with Affiliate Marketing but you have to be aware of the things that can stop you. Ultimely it is up to you. Don't worry about starting slowly, it will just motivate you to find the best programs and promotonal goods that you need. There is no magic wand to success, just take action and do something everyday.
