help! I was nearly done writing a post on my website, over 1000 words, when I had to leave to pick my kids up from school. I'm sure I pressed "save draft". I just returned home
Were you writing in SiteContent or in Wordpress?
If it's the SiteContent, check at the bottom right of the post, it should say "Autosaved (_) mins ago (# revisions)", check on revisions to see the latest version of your post.
In Wordpress. I did check that and check the revisions and it looks like it just didn't save. I'm absolutely gutted but will get back into and rewite it.
Thank you for your help though!
That sucks! Probably you didn't have connection at that point or something because usually WP does autosave too :/
Do gain the habit to constantly press the "save" button though! We've all been there and it teaches us a lesson.
Yeah it has always autosaved for me before so I'm not sure what happened.
All good now though, I've re-written the post now (really need to learn to get faster at posts) published it and pressed save sooo many times lol!
Definitely learnt a lesson, that's for sure! thank you for your help!

Hi Zoe, I feel your pain, I used to do it all the time.
Word press has this built-in function whereby it will autosave, sometimes we forget to save.
One of the habits to get into is clicking
ctrl + s which will save your work as you go.
There is this thing called post revisions where WP saves the post.
Go into your editor
Select your post
On the right-hand side, there will be a button Revisions beside that will be a number of revisions, click browse.
A page will come up showing the saved revisions have a look and then click the revision that you want.
Click restore revision.
See image, hope that this helps
Thanks so much Alex. I did try that as well, it only had the revisions up until my 400 words.
All good though, I've re written it now and definitely learnt a lesson!
It can be a hard lesson to learn, one of my work rounds if I have to dash is just to close the laptop, it will go into sleep mode, when you fire it up just login and all the tabs will be there, already to go.
Another one to try is
Ctrl + z.
Just a little hiccup you will be pleased that you are back on track.

I have a few comments that people have left on my site, they are showing up on the dashboard but when I go into the actual site they're not there? Can anyone tell me how to fix
Hello, I would reply to a comment on your dashboard and ask if they left comments on your site as well. I think sometimes it gets confusing where we are supposed to leave comments.
Hi Zoe,
You need to activate the comments on your pages and posts in Settings -> Discussion
