google analytics error - anyone have any suggestions

anyway, please offer any advice...all tutorials on GA that i've seen so far assume i already connected to GA and have a key, which i don't.
this is the message everytime it tries to connect to my google account
Analytics Profile:
Unfortunately, an error occurred while connecting to Google, please try again:Re-authenticate with Google
and it gives me the option to retry but it never works
any help i would really appreciate it
