Why do people do this to me?

This is a valid question I believe.

I am one that likes to get some feedback every now and again. It is a great way to check progress and get some new eyes on things.

HOWEVER...

If I go through the effort to provide good reviews and critiques for others, and then you try to offer me garbage for feedback, how is that fair for me?

When I offer feedback on someone's site I look at it this way:

How do they want me to look at it? Design? Content? General feedback? Pictures and ads?

How could they improve the user's experience? Flow of content, use of pictures that are relevant, grammar, etc.

What are they trying to achieve/accomplish with the feedback? General feedback is just that, give me an overall view of what you see. Design, go deeper with your thoughts about it. Content, here is a big one that requires you to actually read it.

Do me and everyone else a favor and quit being a waste of my time. If you are just going to be vague and completely useless, go work for the tabloids or something. I am trying to improve people's lives and I want honest feedback.

If you agree with what I feel then leave a comment that way this goes hot in the community and others can see and hopefully learn how to do a better job when offering feedback.

Sorry to hear what. I guess , it is best to leave comments for members, with whom you communicate or they are for you as an example. I guess, that they are responsible and will know how to leave for you a proper feedback. Of course, after when you will leave for them. Do not waste your energy. You will not change people. Everybody is different.

There is another post mentioning the same concept as yours about doing two and receiving none in return.

My first one was replied change my background color and the second one has been floating in the system for weeks so I have not requested any more or bothered to collect any further credits.

I had the same thing happen to me. Early in the lessons it states that "ask for feedback" concerning your website. Now, remember as I said, this was way early in the lessons/learning process and there really wasn't that much to one's website. Anyway, I got a negative comment fro someone concerning my "About Me" page and how about I mentioned too much and especially about my personal involvement in the niche I had chosen. Well, anyway, I looked up the person and saw that they were just brand new to WA and most likely hadn't even gotten

That is the thing about the feedback system, there are requirements for a certain level of thoroughness. Not everyone it in a position to give you "design" feedback, they could be completely new.

In saying this, sometimes this is the best feedback. There have been many, MANY of times that I have reached out for feedback from the technically "unsavvy" (aka, my mom, grandparents) to see how they react to my content or my website and how they interact with it.

Although their feedback is not as thorough or as in depth, sometimes it goes far beyond what someone that is a skilled web designer or marketer could ever offer me...because well, that people like my parents tend to be my target audience.

Thanks for your feedback here though John, we will definitely take this into consideration with future improvements that we will be making to the system. We are always updating things to make them better, in this case more quality control or "feedback on their feedback" may be an obvious addition.

My main complaint is that what was left as "feedback" was not useful.
I don't want to waste people's time and when I leave feedback it is actual feedback.
I guess I might not understand how things work. But I want to leave them something to look at or consider as possible improvements.
