Looking Forward to 2019 - And Beyond

It's that time of year again. Yes, making new goals for the upcoming year and also sharing information with all of you.

I've shared with you before that I don't make New Year resolutions. Instead, I make written goals.

Did you know, according to statistics, 95% of New Year's resolutions made have failed by January 15th? That fail rate has risen considerably over the last year.

That is why it is necessary for you to concentrate on having written goals - so you can be successful.

STEPPING INTO 2019
As I am looking ahead, there are so many wonderful things happening for our family in the new year - my son is getting married, my daugher is graduating from college, and a new grand child is on the way. I am so very excited for it all.

On another aspect, I am also looking forward to taking my website and business to the next level. I am planning on doing some new things as well as kicking it up a notch with some previous things I've done.

I knew in order to get 2019 started off on the right foot, I needed to do two important things:
1) Write my goals for the year
2) Post them in a place to be seen everyday

Mission accomplished! As of this morning, my goals are written and posted. I feel great going into 2019.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS?
I know I've shared this before, but it's always good as a reminder why written goals are so important. Having written goals holds you accountable for whatever it is you want to accomplish. Placing your goals somewhere you can see them is important because it will help you to visualize them.

Another aspect in writing your goals, is making sure they are S.M.A.R.T.* :

S = Specific
M = Measurable
A = Attainable
R = Realistic
T = Time-based
(*November 1981, Management Review - George Doran, Arthur Miller, and James Cunningham.)

The importance of having S.M.A.R.T. goals is to help you stay on your path and not give up out of frustration.

YOUR GOALS ARE YOURS
One thing to remember is that your goals are just that - YOURS! There are so many times people may not agree with your goals and aspirations so they make you feel bad about what you want to accomplish. That even applies to joining WA. People may express how crazy it is to be here. Or they may tell you time and time again how this is not going to work.

If you have made your mind up about getting something accomplished, don't listen to the naysayers! If you have certain goals and aspirations - GO FOR IT! And if you ever need inspiration or encouragement, look to those people in your life that are positive who will lift you up, not tear you down.

I wish everyone here a properous 2019. Now go to work on those goals!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, WA FAMILY!

~ Yvette ~

Great idea to post goals in view. That wil help keep you accountable.

Have a happy and prosperous 2019

Thank you for the kind words and for stopping by. Wishing you the very best of everything in 2019 and beyond.

All the best in reaching your goals in the New Year. I agree we have to make ourselves accountable!
Debbie

Thank you for that, Debbie. I appreciate it very much.

Yvette,
Girl, if anyone can accomplish goals they have set
you can!! I am right behind you and I hear the naysayers
every day of my life it is not stopping me onward I go LOL
I have my tasks set out before me and started working
them in December - I just was not rigid with them as I
will become in 2019,
You Got This - Love You - Respect You
Happy New Year 2019,
Susie

Susie...thank you very much all that and for having so much confidence in me. I truly appreciate it. Don't worry....you are going to reach all your goals too. You have determination and drive. You've got this!

Thanks again for stopping by. Many hugs and much love xoxo

Good analogy Yvette, for me it's one day at a time and then I can meet what I want to get done. I guess we all have own way of doing things. I am like the rabbit and the turtle, slow and steady wins the race. Good luck with you goal keeping and wishing all the best in the New Year.
Always a better way, but it's your way that counts, there is never always just one way.
Linda

Thanks for that Linda. You're right in that you must do what feels right for you. There's nothing wrong with taking things slowly...as long as you continue to move forward. All the best to you.

Hi,
Great post and information! What you say is very true! I wish you continued success in 2019!

Thank you very much for stopping by and for the kind words. Wishing you all the best in 2019 and beyond.

I just love your messages! Sometimes I feel you are writing just to me! Of course, when things like goals hit me, I have to act on them immediately otherwise I leave goals unmet and have blurred lines as to what my original purpose was.

Your S.M.A.R.T. acronym is very familiar to me as we used it while writing patient care plans. I purposely gave up on resolutions and now I have to hold myself accountable for making sure I carry it through.

Nice thing about goals, you can make them simple, but down to earth and realistic rather than writing a lofty goal that is not obtainable and you're constantly trying to meet it, or worse yet, failing!

It's just not the goal I want to meet, it's about the goal meeting my needs! In other words, if goals are not related to you and a personal desire, you're just working towards meeting your boss's needs.

And as a conscientious worker, you always want to make your boss look good, and so you succeed. My thoughts should be, "I'm the boss and this is what I need to succeed!" Totally different mindset of my past years.

Can I do it? Dunno, never tried it before, but your words hit home and that's what I'm going to do!

See, you are my guru!! A truly heartfelt Happy New Year Yvette! I know I'll get there with your support and an occasional kick in the pants with my own foot! Not easy to do, but achievable! 😊

Thank you so much for your kind words. You hit on several great points here. You are right that we have to be in a different mind set. What I do is write things down and then check them off the list and move to the next thing. But follow your heart and get through things in the way that makes you comfortable.

Not sure about being a guru :) but I'll definitely be here if and when you need me. You can always count on that! It's all about helping each other.

Whatever your goals are, you've got this and you'll make it! I know you will! You've got lots of support here.

Wish you the best of everything in 2019 and beyond. xo

Thank you Yvette for this really helpful post.

I think that you will bring your goals to life when you write them down.

plan to succeed

Here's to making it happen in 2019

All the best
For a happy and successful New Year
Jennifer

Thank you, Jennifer, for stopping by and for the kind words. Watch out 2019 - here we come! Wishing you all the best in 2019 and beyond.

Yes for sure.

You are most welcome

Happy New Year
Jennifer

This was a good post -- and happy new year to you as well.

Yes, it is important to write down our goals. It's also a good idea to post them where we will see them. A "dream board" is a great way to have those goals visible to you...just cut out pictures from magazines that represent something you want and put them on a board that you can look at all the time.

Let's hope that all of us at WA have a profitable and enjoyable new year.

Thank you for the well wishes and kind words. Yes, a vision board is awesome to have indeed...I totally agree.

Happy New Year!

2019 will be GREAT!

Yes! Let the greatness begin!
