Discover how to develop Resilience to be a goal achiever!
Ciao everybody,
after reading It Takes Resilience to Achieve Your Goals, and the beautiful article on Mike Zimmer, the coach of the undefeatable Vikings, I have asked myself two questions: what is resilience and how can I improve it?
In brief, here is what I found out.
What is resilience?
Are you facing stressful events, such as a serious illness, a divorce, a demanding job?
Well, resilience is what you need to protect yourself, your integrity and to be open to welcome the world, despite the adverse conditions. If you are resilient, you have the ability to face adversity and overcoming it, using this situation to strengthen and transform yourself.
What are the characteristics of resilient people?
- Optimism
- A strong sense of self
- Social skills
- Physical and mental resistance to stress
- Spirituality
- Independency
- Problem-solving skills
Searching for some of these factors within you? No problem! You can develop resilience!
How do I improve resilience and be capable of managing stressful events
There is not a ready-made solution. Each of us has to follow an individual path. By the way, there are some factors that speed up the process:
- Have a good social network.
- Be aware that change is part of life.
- The crisis simply happen.
- Take concrete actions.
- Keep being confident and positive.
- Find your interests.
- Look for your hidden potential.
- Never stop growing.
As my Yoga Master puts it:
We need to develop strength, flexibility, attention, silence, a sense of ethics, and heroism. These are the ingredients that serve us as modern warriors.
Thank you. Ciao!
Laura
