. hacked into Microsoft Account
If you're using Microsoft Office 365 be very careful what you're using One Drive or Note for. Do not put personal information on it.
One week ago my Microsoft account got hacked into. Since then I have been trying to get control over it again. The response I got from Microsoft was: you can recover your password. I tried that. Microsoft offers higher security when you give your phone number to verify. Which I have done.
The problem is, the person who hacked my account, changed my phone number. After I changed my password again, I found credit cards in there that did not belong to me and that twice. And I could not access and change my phone number back. That when back and for another 4 days. Every time I changed my password, obviously the other person got a text message and changed it right back. The 4th day I could not change my password anymore, so that person had access for another month.
In the meantime I've tried to contact Microsoft, which is quite an adventure. They want you to reset your password online, I went in the Online Chat, that was right after I found out about the situation in the first place. She told me that is only for business accounts and if I had my own domain name. She gave me a phone number to call. The friendly voice on the Answering Machine told me that I have to reset my password online and hang up on me.
What now, I went back to the Online Chad, ready to fight, as much as you can fight in an Online Chad. Now I was chatting one hour with a nice person, that every 30 seconds asked me can you hold for 3 - 4 min. which of course I agreed to. After that hour I wasn't any smarter then before, because everything that person asked me to do I already tried. We ended up with a support ticket, which would take 48 hours for them to get back to me to my backup email.
I got that email, but they asked me the same thing again, click on the link below and reset your password. And surprise! It worked, I could change my password again. I found several emails in Korean or what ever language that was and again another Credit Card with a purchase for Ad-free Outlook charged to it, which I've never bought. I'm assuming these Credit Cards were stolen. So I contacted Microsoft again, to make sure they reimburse that Credit Card. But still I could not change any of my information on my profile. So, my phone number is still wrong. So far, that other person did not get to change my password again. When I contacted Microsoft, now I got an email address I can contact about that issue, they told me they can't do anything for the next 30 days because of security reasons.
The pain, I can't access my backups that I've made onto one drive or my notes or pictures. Everything is frozen except my email.
What a pain. At least I could forward my emails to another email address until I've changed my email everywhere else and can get rid of this account.

That's shocking, Kathrin. I'm sorry to hear of your ordeal.I've never used One Drive but was wondering about how useful it would be. I certainly won't use it now.
Oh not good sorry to hear of that and thank you for the warning I do not keep personal stuff on my office I do have one drive but only use it for pictures hope it is resolved quick for you
Wow not cool. I think we need a internet police.system. I hope you get this taken care of soon.
That really sucks! This is the one time when technology isn't the answer but good old fashioned 'someone get in there and sort this out today!' I'm sure you will get this working!

I'm so sorry this happened to you. It's good that you were able to have emails forwarded else where, but still this quite a pain in the bottom
