Asking for Help and Advice from WA members
Your help would be greatly appreciated. I want to do this right and having no other knowledge than what I have learned here at WA, I am a bit nervous that it isn't what it needs to be.
Thank you all in advance for your help!
Debbie

WVLaydRebel, just in case the previous message look really redneck... pm means Private Message ;-)
not a bit redneck...LOL I am pretty savvy when it comes to that stuff! I sent you a PM earilier.
Sorry, I received the pm but could've looked further down the page where you already provided the site name. Busy looking at the site now, but gimme a few minutes, please and will send you my response the redneck way... ;-)
Hi Debbie, I think you are off to a great start with your blog! I like the theme and its colors and the writing. I think you will be providing great info based on your experience.
I agree that the "About Me" stuff should probably be moved to a new page and that your home page should focus on your overall intent for the site where you gain your visitor's interest.
I would change the horizontal navigation so that it shows home, about, blog (but rename blog to something else), Senior ??? (this item would contain the healthy eating....,10 warning....,exercises.... recipes, ), and contact us.
I assume you will remove the meta and blogroll stuff before launch??
I suggest you DO NOT go with godaddy as they are doing a very bad job of hosting wordPress sites. The fact that they crowd so many users on one server causes nothing but troubles.
Anyway, just my two-cents-worth:-) Best of luck to you
Kathy
Thanks for the advice I appreciate it. I wonder if I should have WA host my sites? That is a good possibility. Need to check on that. Who do you use for your hosting? I am hooked up with them for a year or two I believe. See what happens when you don't have any idea what you are doing? Duh! Thank God for WA and its members. I maybe able to get things worked out after all.
Thanks so much again!
Debbie
You're using siterubix, I don't think you even have to worry about it. Why go and pay additionally for something you already have?
Hello WVLadyRebel, As I said on a previous reply, I read through your site and being an ex medic it was so wonderful to see the information on the web and done with such personal care and tenderness. Such a help to those searching and realising that someone else has gone through it and with such understanding. Wonderful. I know you are also wanting to earn an income on line too but I think that needs to be on a separate site. You can always direct people from Looking after Momma to the other site. Sometimes we need to do things to feed the soul and this site does that , its reach will be felt. Best wishes and thank you
I have a very large website that I can direct this site to, If you read my latest blog, it explains more about that.
I am glad you see where I am coming from on this and it is out of love and compassion that I am doing this for others. It will benefit me in the end, I am sure, when people are directed to the other site for helpful books, resources, and other items that I had to search all over for myself!
When people are dealing with seriously ill parents, you are so stressed you barely can think, much less search for what info you need or items that will help. I want to try and help people and ease that stress factor from their shoulders, if I can. They have enough on their plates, I know, I have been in their shoes.
Thank you again for your kind words. They mean a great deal to me.
My website is still small with few pages so it isn't a big thing to look at. But I do want to know what I need to do to make it better. The whole Wordpress stuff is hard for me to work with and that doesn't help me much either. I am not a computer tech/geek....LOL Just tell me what you think and what I can do to make it better for the people who will be using it.
:). Oh, sorry -- I thought you wanted feedback on specific pages...
Okay, WVLadyRebel this blog looks perfectly fine to me. I don't see a single thing wrong with it and your content is very well written. I read a comment by a previous poster who suggested you put your "about me" in the pages section instead of as a static post, which is a good idea just because then when people surf to your site they'll get your freshest content first.
Later on you might want to take a look at your sidebar and clean out the links that aren't really relevant to your site. Otherwise I think the content is really good and the blog looks fine. As you keep working on it you'll see things you want to add and change -- but overall its a great start and something you can keep building content for.
Good job!!!!
Thank you Chieftess. I appreciate your thoughts. I had some problems with the site and I am still trying to change things to where they need to be. Also, could you be more specific on what isn't really relavent to the site? I will go ahead and remove it. I am new to all of this and that is why I asked for help on this. I cannot critque my own site....don't have the skills to do it. I appreciate what you have told me. Thank you very much!
I read your reply in Chat, I can help you if you would me to.
You say you used a different Theme, it makes sense to use one that you are happy with.
Actually I tried to answer you in chat also and went to read the tps on asking for feedback that BIS had written. Good stuff.
I answered you in Chat but you may have missed it - This what I said - The About Me is normaly a page on it's own rather than your Home Page. Normally your Home Page is either a selection of rolling Posts or a Page about what your site is about.
I am not sure what happened on that and a couple of other things also. It was supposed to be the way you stated it should be.....I have a big domain and website builder with Go Daddy and it is so much easier to work with but I need to learn and get things organized before I transfer everything over to it. It has like 999 pages....nice site.
Goodness me that is a big site, I don't know how to move sites, Kyle would be the one to ask on that one. And it may not be possible because you have used a Site Builder and it's not on a Wordpress Platform but again Kyle could answer this for you.

Hi, good job and well done! You don't say what your other site does when you link this one to that? You have put a lot of effort and thought into this and have a mass of information for those that are worried about this problem.
You asked for some ideas:
You could write an article " The 10 (your title)........ in brief that links the reader to your 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s page to find out more. Consider using that as your home page. For me, I would like to see a bold heading for each of the 10 sections:
(heading) Constant need for reminders 1: Your info.... That would quickly lead me to a section that might be of a specific concern for me and then I would read the rest of the list.
Having read the info I would then want to find out about you and your story.
Just an idea, hope it helps! And good for you for reaching out!
