My New Family at WA
After retiring in 2013 and enjoying the good life I decided I wanted to do something to supplement my income. An online business sounded like a great idea. So after several failed attempts (and a few thousands in Visa charges), I finally learned to Google a busines before I replied to an email. Well, the emails were all scams and the review mentioned WA as the best way to go. It only took 2 reviews both mentioning WA before I joined and here I am.
Then came the time to choose a niche. I watched the video still with not idea of what I wanted to do. So as I was sitting in my study trying to decide on a niche, one of my computers rebooted and when I heard the beep I looked around at all these computers I had built and are still running and thought "Well, duh! You spent 33 years as a system administrator and you have 13 computers in here that you built to test software and you can't decide what you're comfortable with?"
Part of my duties before retiring was to write documentation for my team in a way that they could take the document, go to the hardware, and perform the documented task without having to ask a single question.
Well, there's my niche. Once I went through setting up the website, writing the blog, and inserting photos I was starting to feel pretty comfortable. After posting my first page I got positive feedback and some excellent suggestions on improving it.
Then came to step to write another blog. And here I go again. As I'm sitting in the recliner trying to thing of something to write, the phone rang. I looked at Caller ID on the TV screen and it was one of those numbers that started with a "V" so I thought telemarketer and didn't budge.
Then a recording started saying the IRS had issued a warrant for my arrest for not filing my taxes. That was kinda hard to swallow since I'd already spent my income tax refund. So I called the number to try to get as much info as I could because I knew it was a scam. It was a very short conversation. After I put the phone down there was my idea for another blog.
So I wrote it up and posted it Monday. Tuesday I got an email from Kyle telling me it was indexed in google. So my next step is to post that link at the end of this blog.

Mission accomplished.

Good work .. stay with your comfort niche is the best way to start in this crazy business.
The other opportunities will still be out there when you are ready to diversify your business .. for now stay in comfort and share your vast knowledge and abilities ... It will likely take time to monetize your business, but be patient and it will come!
Don't waste time on spam phone calls ... once they know your number is real they will be even more of a pain!
Thanks. Too late, all the scammers and marketers know my number! That's why I don't answer if I don't recognize the number.

The "IRS" has called me, too. So has someone claiming the "local cops" were coming to get me.
I've gotten to the point that unless I recognize the number, I don't even answer the phone. I figure if it's important, they can leave a message!
Best wishes,
Karin
And that is exactly the way I do it and you're so right, if they don't leave a message you would have wasted your time answering the phone.

You have a world of information stored in you brain. You have experiences that could easily write 1000's of blog post.
The thing to do now is sit down with a pen a paper and write a list of what you know and from that you can easily come up with 100's of ideas.
Anyway that it, I said my piece lol.
To be honest when I saw your post picture and then looked at you profile picture I was sure you were going to write about cars. lol.
Now that would have been a billion dollar business right there.
Wishing you much success

That's the spirit. That is all you can do is your best.
Give it a couple of months and you will surprise yourself. Then you will remember what I said and have a little laugh. lol

If you had seen it , I think you would remember.
It was just the when I said don't hope, know it to be true.
It reminded of the film.
Great idea and have received the same tax scam calls as you mention I hope nobody at WA got scammed by this hoax
You are so right. That's what was on my mind. People who get caught off guard and fall for.
