Is it just me?

I got started, followed my courses, worked at improving my content, posted quite a lot and suddenly it's like I have a block when it comes to content. Spontaneous Kitchen is a food blog. I love to cook and create recipes, all of my recipes are original and they are based on a basic stocked pantry. I have been cooking this way for years and could talk about recipes all day and now... ??? Is it just me or has this happened to anyone else?

I vary my posts from recipes, to product reviews to technique articles to change it up a bit and keep things fresh and suddenly it's difficult to write on a regular basis. I came down with a virus for a few days and really didn't feel well enough to do anything and now I am totally off track. Promising myself that I will be back in the saddle tomorrow and get a post up on the blog. But really, has anyone else had this happpen to them? Maybe I have just worked so hard I needed a break, but break is over. This is my dream, gotta make it happen.

You can do it!!!

What your experiencing is very normal

You may be suffering from a bit of perfectionism, its quite common
Your only human and humans are fallible if you love what you write about then you will soon get back into your stride

Try not to beat your self up for not being perfect, do you think success is a straight line, it is not, its a journey with ups and downs and moments of self doubt and times when you question your self.

Barry

Thanks Barry, I do think that perfectionism is part of it. I want everything to be right and quick. And you are right,
like life, success is a journey. Thanks for the reminder! :)

I once thought about a blog for national dishes for every country in the world. But when I got to Democratic Republic of Congo, it was either spam dishes (genuine from expeditionary campers there) or wild animals. So this would be a case of niche narrowing.

For sure!!! Thanks for the smile! Nah... no spam in the Spontaneous Kitchen!

Yes I know that feeling very well!! I have a niche site I am lacking interest (well probably time really) to do anything on. But sometimes I just sit down and say I'll do something for 5 mins relevant to the site even if it's look for new ideas or pictures on Pinterest or read an article. Every little counts as they say and then suddenly the motivation and interest comes back.

Sometimes actually leaving it and doing something else for a few days actually refuels your energy and you start thinking of ideas. So don't panic and think you need to be writing all the time. - take photos that can be used, watch videos on Youtube that you could borrow or read up up things that you didn't know about your niche already.

Hi Marie,
You are right, anything you do is better than doing nothing. For me it often just gets the ball rolling and I can continue to complete the project. Sometime its just, where do I begin? I like to cook and write so it baffles me sometimes why I get stuck, but I guess it happens to all of us. Part of being human, I guess. Thank you for your comments. Now following you, your websites look like they may be very helpful with understanding the mechanics of blogging, something i nd a better understanding of. Best to you!

Thanks, and any problems just give me a message I'm not always on here but I do often drop by!

Hi Diana, how about writing about what's in season at the moment and how to create different recipes from whatever the 'star' ingredient is? :)

Starting to do that with a Farmer's Market pick approach... today's star? Swiss Chard!!!

Perfect! :)

Hi Diana, hard to keep going, I think that many of us have been in b that position, usually doesn't last long, good to see you are feeling better. Best wishes moving forward.

Thank you, I know it will end and new inspiration will come. Best to you as well.

I know the feeling as been ther a few times and now have a new idea and am making simple videos - have done four and my traffic has increased by 30%

Hi Paul, thanks for the advice. I have thought about videos, they are all over the internet for food blogs but they take more time than I have. I guess eventuallyI can get to that. I 'm just not seeing traffiic either. I feel like I've hit a wall. I just have to keep going, it wll get better.

I think we all hit the wall sometimes. I recently had Pneumonia and after this felt a bit out of whack, but gave my body time to heal and then did some meditation, and breathing exercises, and got back on track! You will find your mojo once again!

Glad your feeling better! I think we all need to step back a bit when we're not feeling good. We get sick because we need rest, hard lesson to learn. All the best to you!

Hi. My blog is also about cooking.. I also have a hard time writing. Keep at it. You never really run out of things when it comes to food. Good luck.

Thank you. I love to cook which is why I'm not sure why this is happening but I shake it uo a bit and it will all be good. Best to you!
