I was wondering if there was any advantage to buying the additional domains, .org, .biz, etc? If so, how do you go about making the most with your efforts?

Even though most people do purchase these to protect their brands, and have all the others redirect to the .com site, I thought about using them as a breakdown of services on a site. I'm looking into the feasibility of this and it may not be at all.

Com site for commerce
Net site for the networking part of the site
Org site for the non-profit portion of the site
Info for the sheer about and history of the site and/or the industry.

That's the only other reason for using these to protect the brand, and get use out of the domains as well.

Most people, however, put all these things on the .com site and redirect from the others to the .com site.

Thanks, for the info and suggestions.

The simple answer is some people do and some people do. On the authority site that I have I bought all the others simply because I wanted to protect my brand name. it's really a personal choice and a judgement call on your part.

Thanks, for your comment, I appreciate it.
