days of summer
When I was a kid, the family made a point of doing picnics and BBQ’s with friends and neighbors. Those were the days when you could just let your kids roam the neighborhood without worrying about weirdo’s.
Well, my kids are grown and mostly living with their own families. So, I encourage them to do stuff together. Life is short, we just don’t realize it when we’re young. We only have about 15 summers with our kids and then they very quickly learn to make other plans.
Psalm 90:12 says “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Spend your days on purpose. Make it your goal to connect and enjoy – not endure – your summer with your kids. If you do this, you’ll look back someday and think, That was one of the best summers of my life.

Living in the moment, in other words one day at a time, and cherishing family....now that's what I call finding balance in ones life!
All the so called "self help" books in the world wont actually "help", despite what some of the self styled "motivational" gurus are fond of spouting.
What the world needs now are real solutions, grounded in reality....we need to contemplate the pic of the kids playing in the sand and learn from them how to live in the moment!

Just came back on a road-trip with the family to Chicago for some city exploring. Money was tight and we could have cancelled, but it was well worth it as it creates the memories for them as they grow up.
