Are you having trouble finding time to write? Do you wish you had other ways to produce content besides typing on a computer?

Most of us are familiar with the saying: "Quality content is king." So for most of us, content production is generally the #1 overall priority for our online business. But content production is typically much easier said than done

We all face common problems such as time restrictions, writer's block (lack of ideas), and other difficulties from time to time. These problems however, should not be something that continuously stop us from producing quality content for our visitors. So what can we do?

Welcome To The World Of Dictation

Dictation is simply the conversion of basis. Doctors and lawyers use this on a regular basis. Business meetings are often recorded using dictation tools. Dictation is a proven tool of note taking and writing.

How Does It Benefit Me?

Have you ever had an Eureka! moment when you think of an excellent post topic? Or a marketing strategy? Or maybe just a way to convey your message? Only later to forget it? Yes, it is extremely frustrating and I know that feeling all too well.

With a dictation tool handy, you can eliminate that from happening to you. Simply speak into the dictation device and let it record. If you can find one that’s compatible with Bluetooth, you can simply connect it to your car’s Bluetooth (if your car has it) and simply think out loud as you drive. I found this to be a great use of my commute to and from work.

Notes Vs. Actual Content

Depending on what stage you’re at in the writing process, sometimes it’s just best to record whatever comes to your mind. Even if it may not make sense and you’re simply spewing out phrases and words, it’s useful information you can look back on later.

I actually got some ideas for this post through dictation. Although I’m writing most of this via typing on my laptop, I reviewed the notes I got from my dictation software and was able to expound upon them.

I personally write actual content with my dictation software from time to time. If I’m really in the zone and words are just flowing and coming together, I can record close to a thousand words. In some of those cases, I rarely have to edit the content, besides formatting, punctuation, and images.

Type of Software I Use

If you decide to give dictation a try, definitely try several different software first to see which is the best fit for you. I personally don’t have a device dedicated just for dictation purposes so I use my Android Smartphone.

I used to use an app called Listnote. It worked fine for me but sometimes the recording would freeze, which doesn’t record anything even though the screen shows that it is. The time in between pauses also varied unpredictably. Sometimes it’d continually record even after a 5 second pause; other times it’d stop recording in between catching breathes for the next sentence. I don’t want this to turn into a review so that’s about all I’ll say about that software.

Right now I’m currently using an app called Speech To Text- Text by Voice. It is very accurate in deciphering your words. Although the record time is very short between pauses, I’m happy trading that for accurate word recording.

The Takeaway

Those of us that currently use dictation would understand exactly what the benefits of dictation are. Those of us that have not tried it before, I hope you will at least give it a shot. Even though it’s just a nice accessory for some, this just may be the tool to take your online business to the next level!
