Enjoy Your Thanksgiving!
North America holds a long tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving that goes back hundreds of years. It was a time to mark the fall harvest and show gratitude.
In Canada, the day is recognized on the second Monday of October whereas in the U.S. it is the last Thursday of November. Apparently, George Washington made November 26th the original Thanksgiving date. But that was changed with Lincoln to the last Thursday of November.
Regardless, Thanksgiving is now celebrated with lots of food, friends, and family gatherings. There's generally plenty of people also enjoying football games and parades.
This special day is also a kick-off to the holiday season...and as you all know, the annual mayhem of Black Friday starts this week.
So may you have a fabulous Thanksgiving with lots of food, family and fun. And may your Black Friday sales be bountiful!

Nice thoughts, Susan. We don't have it here of course. We have Australia Day on the 26th of January, typically celebrated with a beer and a barbie as it's the middle of summer.

Very nice, Jeff...it just made upper 40s here, but that was good enough and made xmas tree shopping much more enjoyable! Anything over freezing and no snow is a blessing now. 🐶😹🐶
I'm very glad that your temps cooperated with your tree shopping! I will not have a tree again this year! At this rate, I will be at Ron's for Christmas again too! While I would rather be with my family, that is, sadly not possible, but true Friends are the best things that we can have, Susan!

I think that by selecting Thursday as Thanksgiving day, they unwittingly set the stage for a long weekend holiday. When I worked in my professional job, we always got Friday off to make this a 4-day weekend holiday.
Now that I am retired, I don't appreciate that significance since I am my own boss now. I don't give myself Friday off. Heck, I will be working in some fashion on Thursday too. Just like Saturdays and Sundays ha! Every day is a work day now.
Being my own boss makes all the difference in the world.
