My burmese Thelma and Louise-our first blog
We have inspired our human mother to let us become the official bloggers for her at WA.
After all we follow her everywhere, walk over the keyboard to create interesting content, always walk over the keyboard where it turns off the internet and changes it to flight mode (this is a specialty of mine-Thelma) plus we sit exactly on the words where Wendy wants to read. Exactly!! We look where her eye is directed and then go for it. Actually Louise is best at this.
I am Thelma and I am the lighter colour burmese, my official colour is chocolate and my half sister Louise is officially called a brown. In this photo we had just arrived from our breeder in Queensland. We travelled together in our cage and it was so hot the day we travelled from a suburb out of Brisbane by car to the airport, flew to Sydney then changed flights to arrive at Albury airport late afternoon. We were greeted by our new parents and Wendy cried if I remember rightly. Anyway she talked to us the whole way home and it took one hour driving up the mountain. When Wendy opened the door of our travel cage once inside our new home, Louise stepped out immediately, she stretched and yawned and sat looking around thinking "so this is where we live now" but I preferred to stay huddled at the back of the cage for a while until I felt confident. Being half sisters I mothered Louise because she was only six weeks old when we left our breeder and I guess Louise was missing her birth mother because she spent many hours sucking on my nipples for comfort. I dont know why Wendy laughed at us so much, but Louise was always at it, like a little leach! Ha.! Well now we are much more mature and grown up, we are three years old now.
We have a cat door at Wendys desk which leads into our cage called our catio, and it is a favourite place to relax in the sun. Wendy can watch us out there while she is working on her computer and we can see her as well. We have bushes and fresh hay in the catio so Wendy has no need to empty a cat tray, a good solution for us all.
We catch small lizards from our catio and bring them in to show Wendy. I watch while Louise tortures them then eats them. One night around 2.00 a.m. (why werent we asleeep?) we heard a baby wren cheeping in our catio so we brought it into Wendy who was asleep and put it in her slipper next to the bed. Wendy wrapped the baby wren in a hand towel and kept it in bed with her to keep warm until the morning. Another time a tiny rabbit (also called a kitten-how's that!) unbelievably squeezed into our catio and of course we brought it into the bedroom which caused heaps of fun.
We don't believe in making a noise, so we don't miaow. Well I do rarely for a minute or so but I have never heard Louise make a sound. This was very handy recently when we evacuated due to bushfires and spent one week in our caravan and we were so quiet and well behaved. Wendy put collars and a harness on us both in case we freaked out and ran away, but we were purrfect. Now we are back home in the mountains we have collars and harnesses off again. We are micro-chipped.
Oh I forgot to say that I have chronic gum, tooth and root disease and now I only have seven teeth left. No problem, Wendy buys me kitten food and I can still eat fresh meat chopped up small (we are eating pork fillet at the moment but don't tell anyone)
Bye for now I am off to find a new sleeping spot. After all Louise and I have the whole house as our kingdom and we hunt for new warm places to nap, especially under Wendys doona, totally uninvited.
OH and never drink water from a glass on the benches here, because we have them exclusively for us in different places around the house.

Thelma,
So sweet of you to allow Wendy share your home. I've shared my life with cats in the past and found them marvelous and loving. One word of advice Thelma, treat Wendy well and in turn, she will lovingly see to your every need.
Greg
only negative is if Wendy invites friends or family to stay and they bring their house dog-then the fun begins
