The Value if Persistence

"Persistance" is a virtue that many entrepreneurs have. Actually, it's a virtue that all Successful people have. Whether it's business, sports, music, acting, or any other area of expertise, there are very few people who got there EASILY.

Someone once said, "success is the culmination of hundreds, even thousands of set backs and getting up, dusting yourself off and continuing again". I often use the following quote from one of my idols, McDonalds supremo, the late Ray Kroc..." I was an overnight success alright, but 30 years is a long night.

I'm guessing Ray had a good deal of persistsnce. In fact did you know, he was 54 when he stumbled across McDonald brothers ham burger joint...as a milk shake salesman. (I strongly recommend the film about him The Founder).

Most people think at 54 it's too late to really make it. That doubt never crossed Ray's mind snd it shouldn't cross yours either. He died having created one of the most successful businesses of our time and he was a very rich man. The key is he never gave up.

After every set back, every challenge, every failure successful people just picked themselves up again, and again and again. Often people give in when success was just waiting around the corner. In many respects having the right mindset is key. If you see failure as damaging l, then every time you fail, snd we all do, then this will automatically put you on the back foot and create negative feelings.

The great man, Nelson Mandela got it right. He said, "I never lose, I win or I learn". That's the perfect mindset to have. That way, even with a set-back you learn and you prosper. So, if you're having setbacks, just remember as long as you can keep going to can turn things around. Never easy, but an essential virtue.

Great Post!

Great point and great blog.
Just a real pity that Ray Kroc chose that particular line to be successful in - it having been said to be the start of America's obesity problem. But I guess he never knew that would happen and persisted with what he believed to be an incredible product - what a success story. Much like Colonel Sanders of KFC.
Steve Jobs, Richard Branson and others all have this sort of mindset.
Each setback is part of a learning curve and one step closer to success.

Great post, I love the quotes and especially the one of Nelson Mandela. So true.
It is about mindset, it's not possible to achieve anything without it.
