Hi, WA family. It's been a long time since last time I blogged. Hope you guys have been good.

Today, I wanna share a story with you about what I've been learning recently, and among that what lesson I found so valuable that it might benefit us in learning affiliate marketing as well.

Have you ever heard of "Blender"?

No! Not the fruit blending machine.

Simply put, Blender is an open source 3D animating software, which provides all the functions you may need in animation. This includes 3D modeling, shading, texture painting, VFX (visual effects), video editing, and so on. Not only 3D, but even 2D animation is available too.

You can click here to see its official website and download the software.

Best and most important of all, it's FREE.

Why is it important that it is free?

(Heads up! Here's an underline now!)

Because for it is free and open source, those around the world who are interested in animation, who are either beginners or professionals in this field and who are specialized in related techniques including programming can have access to this software for free.

It is such the unique feature that has made Blender more and more popular during the last 2 decades. Everyone can learn how to use it, and then more tutorials are made and uploaded to the Internet. Hence, more people can watch them and learn, and then become teachers of another beginner.

Without a doubt, this virtuous cycle attributed to the fact that this software never charges a penny. "Money doesn't interest me.", Ton Roosendaal (the creator of Blender and the chairman of Blender Foundation) said. You can click here to see his Twitter account.

Now you know Blender. Then who's Blender Guru then?

Blender Guru is one of the best examples out of that virtuous cycle aforementioned. His actual name is Andrew Price, an Australian 3D artist, specializing in 3D animation using Blender which he's been learning and using for over 15 years.

Now you can find his YouTube channel (you can click here to check it out). There are several Blender tutorial series where he teaches how to use blender from scratch step by step. Through these tutorials, you'll be able to create some fantastic stuffs in Blender as well.

Sounds like a sponsored article? Don't get me wrong. Told you I'm sharing a story. But if so, where is "me" exactly? What do this software and this guru YouTuber have to do with me?

Here comes the million answer to it:

I've been learning Blender by watching Blender Guru's tutorials for 30 days
, and I made it!

The above is what I made after finishing Blender Guru's 5.5 hours tutorials. And I gotta say: I'm so proud of myself~

From modeling, sculpting, shading, texture painting to the final animating, it's been a really long time and a pain in the aXX.

But that's the core of learning, isn't it? If we wanna make some thing so good that people will be shocked at the first sight, we have to pay for it, no matter time or effort.

To make this photo out of nothing (literally), although the videos are about 5 hrs, it actually takes at least twice of it. Plus, I broke it into small pieces and practiced one of them each day; hence, 30 days it has been. Yet, during the practicing, I saw some progress, which became the momentum that pushed me forward.

At last, I showed this to my friends, and finally heard that golden sentence, "Looks great! Where did you buy the donut?"

The result proved that what I had payed were worthy.

Ladies and Gentlemen, a valuable lesson you'll have.

This learning experience reminded me of the time when I leanred affiliate marketing from scratch. Everything looked foreign to me (not just because English is not my first language), and none of them failed to intimidate me.

But instead of quiting, I chose to face the music.

I broke the ultimate goal, to master online business, into small steps and took each of them day by day, one by one. In the end (which is now of course), neither can I say I'm professional nor I achieved any significant milestone; however, I'm far away from that green newbie now, and I'm capable of helping new WA members as well.

That's what learning new stuff is about:

Do your best to complete every task.

No matter how hard it's gonna be, don't give up if you aim at the perfect outcome and amazing others eventually. Always believe that all the effort you put now will be payed off.

Congratulations! You finish to the end!

Thank you for reading this long, wordy (hope not boring) post. If you like this topic, don't be shy to give it a like. If you have some similar experience, your own opinion about learing or anything in mind, feel free to leave a comment down below. I really look forward to knowing what you want to say.

Take care and stay tuned~

I've heard about the Blender platform. There are others out there as well, but they charge an arm and leg to join. Does blender lets you down load your work? How about making a 3D video story for social media? Do you get to own your work after creating it? I appreciate you sharing this. Thanks. All the best!

Thank you for liking this post; I really appreciate it. And I'm very happy to answer your great questions.

First, Blender is a free software rather than an online platform (unlike Renderforest and other online tools). Therefore, we can download the software and create some projects in our own computers without being charged with any fee. Also, we can use our work for no matter commercial or educational reasons regardless of the license approval issues. Simply put, it's totally free in any aspect.

Second, creating a 3D project (including images or videos) is really time-consuming and highly dependent on hardware quality. That is, if considering online marketing purposes, I wouldn't recommend using it to make promotional videos, unless you have enough passion and time creating some really delicate stuffs.

It is nice to chat with you, and hope these can help you. If there's anything else you want to know, feel free to reply me any time.

Best regard,
Henry

Got it. Thanks for responding back to my questions. All the best!

Thank you, Phil. That is what WA community taught me.

I have tried Blender awhile back, very powerful, can compete with commercial packages like Maya.

Yes, your right, breaking large goals down into smaller ones is the way to.

Great post, WeiXiang.

Cya. 🙂
