While I was sleeping

I have been working hard this past year, getting my websites up to snuff (and not finished yet), promoting affiliate links, creating landing pages, posting to social media, and thinking nothing was happening...seemed like a lot of work and effort and no return.

So imagine my surprise when I checked two of my affiliate accounts, one Christmas Eve and one New Year's Day and notifced a couple of sales.

These are not big sales by any means - however, it shows that while we are busy doing all the right things, stuff is happening behind the scenes such as sales.

Something tells me that 2020 will be my year!

"Determination gives you the resolve to keep going in spite of the roadblocks that lay before you." ~ Denis Waitley

Have you noticed efforts from your hard work. Please share, no matter how small or big.

UPDATE:

NOTE: Someone sent me a private message indicating that she was told she would be making money in 3 months. I hope none of you WA members are telling your referrals this. We all know there are exceptions to the rules and we all travel our paths differently. However, 3 months is really not realistic.

As for me, I have had other earnings - these were worth mentioning as it was over the holidays and I was busy with family (the point being I was earning money while away from my business). I also want to clarify that although I have been here awhile, I haven't always worked smart (AN EXAMPLE IS HAVING 3 WEBSITES INSTEAD OF FOCUSSING ON JUST ONE!) So don't be discouraged and think you have wasted your time if you have only been here three months!

A good many of us know who Jerry Huang is. Here is a link to one of his posts - if you read it, you will see he was well into his first year and starting his second before BIG success came to him.

I hope this helps to put things into perspective for you new members.

Congratulations, Mary Ann. Yes, hard work pays off. I am reminded of two American business men who went to South Africa to start a clothing store. After a year of seeing no success, one left and closed his business before it even started.

The other with little success, in terms of making money, nevertheless stayed another 2 years. On his forth year he had all the business he could handle and money was no longer an issue.

What happened?

The second business man took the time to learn the business culture of South Africans. One is expected, if a new comer, over a relative lengthy time, to prove his or her trust worthiness to the community. Once that is proven, he or she will have a lot of support and that can translate into lots of money.

Yes, hard work pays off. However, success rarely happened overnight.

Thabo

This is very true, Thabo.

With regards to earning trust, you have to treat other cultures with respect. My husband and I are spending our second winter in Mexico and the people around us are amazing. We always take the time to learn the local business owner's names and frequent their places as often as we can.Even though we speak very little Spanish, they appreciate that we try.

It all takes time to build trust, no matter what the situation is.

Thanks for sharing.

The path to success here at WA is dependent on many individual factors, including but not limited to:

> Beginning digital and internet skills
>Time available to complete the training (including all the tasks)
> Writing and content development skills
> Avoiding distractions like SOS (shiny object syndrome)

It takes time for a developed website to get traction, and is typically a function of the stream of quality content one can achieve.

So if your digital and internet skills are strong and you can complete the OEC training quickly (including all the tasks) ... and if you have strong, creative content development skills ... and if you are able to stay focused (avoiding all distractions) I maintain you still should not expect to see significant sales in 3 months ... even 6 months.

If you've done the training and completed your site, sales growth becomes a function of your traffic growth, which is a function of your improving SERPs (in particular page 1 rankings), which is a function of your steady and consistent stream of content.

Six posts a week will likely produce a steady and growing stream of traffic faster than three posts a week, but it all depends on the relevance and quality of the content you have posted.

We've all heard about Jerry Huang, but he was in a position to take advantage of a bilingual approach to his business (English and Mandarin Chinese) and even he did not experience real sales growth in 3 months. Please take the time to read his post that MaryAnn has provided above.

Enough said. My apologies if this sounded like a rant. :-) You are on the right path Mary Ann ... steady as she goes.

Thanks Dennis. You summed it up nicely!
