Asking Permission?

I would like to blog about someone who is well known in my niche (they are NOT affiliated with WA) and there is a very good chance they would see this article if I share it on social media (FB and Twitter) sinced I do follow them.

Do I need their permission to do this. They don't know me from 'Eve'. The article is a positive one and I am writing about the impact they have had on the industry.

At this point, I have not decided on posting a photo (if I do, I KNOW) I have to get permission - that is a given.

What have your personal expeiences been? Have you done it and were there any repercussions?

Thanks,

Mary Ann

Interesting replies below. I should take it into account

No, you don't need permission, as long as everything is known fact and presented correctly.

I think if you were to need their permission the newspapers would be pretty empty Mary Ann.

Providing you are not defaming them or showing them in a bad light without the necessary proof I can see no harm in writing about them.

Derek

You probably do not need their permission to write the article. However you may want to call their attention to it. They can point out any misinformation and perhaps will even promote it for you by sharing it to others.

True. I did break down and contacted her because I would like to get a photo as well :).

Agree with the answer below, should not be a problem, if in doubt ask them.

Hi Wealthy2018! I posted a blog on yesterday that may be right up your alley! "Blogging, invite a Guest Blogger". It talks about guess blogger writing a blog for your post and you, one for there post, no permission needed.

Check it out.

Thanks. I did read this.

I am not looking for a guest blogger though. I want to blog about someone else.

Mary Ann

People write about other people all the time without permission as long as your not tarnishing their name they would most likely love seeing a positive article on them. But you do follow them if your unsure ask them.

I really would like to post her photo so I may just have to bite the bullet and ask :).

Mary Ann

I would have throught not. especailly if they also have a blog, they might like the reflected glory I guess
