I've been getting questions about this lately so I thought I'd address what direct traffic is and if it's worth diving into. In most cases the answer is no.
Overall, what you need to know about direct traffic is simple: Its traffic that comes to your website from an unidentified source (broken tracking, email, etc...). It does not mean you're doing something wrong, it just means the source cannot be identified (like a social media platform or search engine).
