It's one of those where more than one answer is applicable since two items are added up but we don't know their individual costs.
no, no. Its a normal equation,
(a) X+Y=1.1
(b) X=Y+1
So, puting (b) into (a) we get
(Y+1)+Y=1.1
2Y=1.1-1
Y=0.1/2
Y=0.5
Then, we can put back on (b)
Y=0.5
X=0.5+1
X=1.5
