Ahhhh, the Elusive Page 1 Ranking!
Reading a great book by Gary Keller called The One Thing. It's really helping me with my focus and prioritization.
So early last week, I was convinced that the "one thing" was for one of my blog posts to get ranked on page 1 of Google. My reasoning was that if I can't figure out how to crack the keyword rich content code, then all of this writing of content would be for naught, because no one would ever see it anyway.
With this thought process swirling around in my head, it isn't hard to see how I was having a hard time justifying setting aside time to research and write quality content. So instead, I putzed around with my keywords, did more site design and created pages on different social media sites.
So I posed the question to you guys -- my WA community -- and got the straight, no chaser, responses that I value from you. Essentially, the responses amounted to, "it varies" -- which makes sense -- and that I should "focus on continuing to create more content."
Not exactly what I wanted to hear but apparently, it was what I needed to hear. Just having you guys validate that continuing to build out content was the right track for me to be on gave me the push I needed to get going. As a result, I was able to put out two great pieces of content at the end of last week. So, I ended up having a productive week after all. Next week, I'll do even better!

Interesting post. I was listening** to a YouTube video about The One Thing just last week.
Coincidentally, I am reading a book by Evan Carmichael titled "Your One Word," which, I feel, takes the concept of focusing on "one thing" even further.
Another related topic I was listening** to last week was a talk by James Clear on how to transform your habits (by raising the floor rather than the ceiling...)...
**listening: I "listen" to youtube video talks more than I watch them. I spend a lot of time in the company of successful people while doing other stuff (working out, cooking, etc) thanks to youtube!
By the way, I think the responses you got from other WA members about staying focused on creating quality content was correct if getting to #1 on Google for your keyword phrases is your #1 thing.
All the best,
David Hurley

Hey Vfxbanner I can see how you or me for that matter can loose focus. It sounds like the key is putting out good content. What is good content? Is it what your audience want to read even though you may not find it interesting.
