Greetings To All,

For the rest of this year, I'll be writing weekly posts, of my Healthier Me Challenge!
In each of the posts, I'll be sharing a variety of things: my weekly goals; new recipes; excerpts from books I'm reading; and a few mental obstacles that I'm fighting, to name a few. My hope, is that as I share my journey, I will encourage, inspire and motivate others to reach their Best Self!!!

Weekly Goals:
Instead of focusing on words like "can't", "don't" and "bad", I decided to make some changes. So, each week, I'll adopt a healthier habit, and eliminate an unhealthy habit. It can be anything! The only rule is to adopt AND eliminate!

Week #7
Healthy Habit to Adopt: ???
Unhealthy Habit to Eliminate:???

Update:
This is the post I was dreading.....I usually prefer to write these posts on my challenge the beginning of the week, but this week got a bit hectic and...well...I was dreading writing this.....oh.....I said that already...so, an image to best describe of what I am referring...

No...I didn't feel like a white male with a really good head of hair, although the poncho is pretty cool...or is that just a throw cover.....OK.....back to the image.....for those whom may not know, this was one of the coolest actors around: Clint Eastwood. Although I really wasn't a fan of Westerns, primarily because everything always just looked so darn dirty and dusty. But if Clint Eastwood was in it, I would watch. Why? Because it's Clint Eastwood.....no one did ruggedly handsome like Clint.....and the squint....and the hair.....and he knew how to handle a gun.....wait.....what's this post about again....
Oh yeah, my Healthier Me Challenge.....

So, one of Clint's classic films was "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly", excellent movie!!! Even if you're a hater of Western movies, I think you would enjoy this one. So, in thinking about my last week, I thought about this movie, and decided to title it ,
"The Ugly." Heck, I "fell off the wagon" so to speak, so I might as well get a good laugh.

What happened? I'm really not sure, all I know is that I went for a 1 1/2 hour walk yesterday (thank goodness) but I hadn't walked in like a week!!! That's really strange because I love walking almost much as I love swimming. Swimming is still #1 because outside of actually swimming, I like goofing around in the pool, but I can play it off like I'm doing some sort of water aerobics. I also haven't written in my journal since last week Thursday!!! EEEKKKK!! Not sure if the stars are out of alignment or what, but it happened.

So, no "woe is me" or pity party here! I gave myself a challenge, and whether "good, bad or ugly" by golly, I'm going to stick with that challenge!!! The bad habits took years to develop, so I can't expect them to be replaced with better ones over night. I have to give myself time, knowing that falling is inevitable, but it's how long I stay down that matters.....I mean.....how quickly I get back up....hey, I had a late breakfast so I may be a bit ditsy right now, plus, Clint Eastwood is on my screen.....

So, there you have it folks!!! Whenever you're in doubt, feeling as if you're faltering, unsure about the future.....just look to Clint.....he'll show you the way.....and perhaps, give you some great hair-styling tips.....

Strive to Thrive,
Veronica

I just made myself a cup of coffee, sat down in my comfortable arm chair and prepared to be entertained by your post ... I wasn't disappointed Veronica lol. Keep moving forward, you're doing awesome :-)

Awwww.....thank you, Gaylene!

I was initially feeling "blah" about writing the post, but then I thought, I might as well have some fun!!! Life can be so serious.....we gotta be able to laugh at ourselves once in a while.

Glad I could provide a chuckle!!!

So true, Have a fabulous week :-)

Keep on going.

Thanks Judy!!!

I have read all your posts about your Healthier Me Challenge (HMC) and am cheering you on! Several weeks ago I started a new site canseniorslosebellyfat.com which is about eating healthier.

I am currently on vacation and have been reading and researching in my spare time.

I read "It States with Food" by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig. Here is a quote from the book that got me thinking,

"The food you eat either makes you more healthy or less healthy. Those are your options."

I have decided to do the "Whole30 Program" described in their books when I return from vacation. It will take some planning before I start changing my eating habits.

Greetings Glen,

I know that sugar is my enemy #1 - I eat and drink a lot of it. I'll be starting a fast/detox soon, it's been long overdue. I once went 40 days without any form of extra sweets (candy, cake, soda, etc.); I started just before Thanksgiving and went thru January 31st! It was insane, but I believe the LORD gave me the will to be successful, so I have no doubt that I will have a victory!

I appreciate the tip, Glen. Thanks!

I thought that was David Beckham in a poncho lol

Best of luck creating a healthier you,

That's funny......that actually does look like David Beckham in a poncho!!!

Glad I´m not the only one who saw David where it was Clint!

Hopefully Ill have a smile like yours this time next year!

I hope you'll have your own joyful smile, Mick. You deserve that and more!!!

Love this post Veronica, setting me up for exactly what I/we intend to do on our move to Portugal this April the 7th.

Thanks,

Mick.

All the best with getting everything together, Mick!

Good job, Veronica!

Thanks Reanna!!!

Great post Veronica. I love Clint Eastwood too.

Erica

Yep, I think he may have invented "the swag" lol.

Hi Veronica,
I know exactly how you feel. Shall we get in the same boat together...here's a paddle!! I haven't done my yoga in two days!! That's just not me, I really enjoy my yoga practice!! I put it off to, "oh well, I'll do it tomorrow". Now it's tomorrow, still haven't done it. I'm going to put my head down and do my yoga before I go to bed tonight!! I can't slack now, I've been doing this since September of last year.
Plus I looked in the mirror and saw something that I just don't like....my belly and those "love handles". There's nothing lovely about those things...UGH!!!
So, my friend I'm with you all the way!! Let's do this!!
Have a great day, take care.
Mary

Yeah, how does belly fat equal love, lol. It's all good Mary! I believe this is the month I swallow my pride and attempt yoga again. I just brought out my Gentle Yoga DVD as a reminder. At least I can look the fool in the comfort of my home!

All the best Mary, and thanks for stopping by!

Great Job!

Thanks Dr. Arthur!!!
