Week 20 - Healthier Me Challenge
Greetings To All,
For the rest of this year, I'll be writing weekly posts, of my Healthier Me Challenge!
In each of the posts, I'll be sharing a variety of things: my weekly goals; new recipes; excerpts from books I'm reading; and a few mental obstacles that I'm fighting, to name a few. My hope, is that as I share my journey, I will encourage, inspire and motivate others to reach their Best Self!!!
Weekly Goals:
Instead of focusing on words like "can't", "don't" and "bad", I decided to make some changes. So, each week, I'll adopt a healthier habit, and eliminate an unhealthy habit. It can be anything! The only rule is to adopt AND eliminate!
Week # 20
Healthy Habit to Adopt: Cardio 3x a week
Unhealthy Habit to Eliminate: Not writing in my journal daily
Update:
I went out for my walk this morning later than usual, primarily because I went to bed later than usual. There was only one other day this week that I walked due to the heavy rains we had this week, so I really wanted to get moving today. I brought my stretch band rope, in case I decided to do some strength-building exercises. I really just wanted to walk, but I did have something else in mind....
So, I took my leisurely stroll down Freedom Drive, enjoying the sun and the beauty of nature. I was walking towards the track, not with the intention of running, but I wanted to see "it". I wanted to stand before "it" to let it know that I was a force to be reckoned with...OK...perhaps I couldn't instill fear right at that exact moment, but soon...very soon...
I started my walk (shuffle) around the track taking in all the joggers and fellow walkers. I still don't get running. I mean, if you want to get to your destination quicker, just leave earlier!
I saw "it" from a distance, but I wasn't ready to confront it just yet, so I did my very, very slow walk around the track again. After the 2nd lap, it was time..
At long last...I stood before my nemesis...
There it stood, pretending to be so innocent...mocking me...reminding me of those embarrassing times I tried to pull up on it during gym class in junior and senior high school...it mocked me without any regards to my inner pain...
We stood before each other, refusing to show our weakness to the other. The sun blazed down upon us as we glared each other down...unflinching...neither of us willing to admit defeat...
I made a vow and declared to the heavens that I would not let this year end without me conquering...The Bar...Let not it's slight appearance fool you least you forget that it is indeed a worthy opponent!
There's much more to tell of my visit to the track...so much more, but I'll have to save that for another day.
May your weekend be an enjoyable and productive one; may you have the strength to face all your opposition; and whatever you do, always...
Strive to Thrive,
Veronica

I wish I had one of those. I used to like the bars in school; but I'm sure they will be a formidable enemy these days. I used to like to kick my legs up and over the bar and hang upside down from my knees. I don't think there is much chance of me doing that now. You are doing great yer majesty. :)
It's hard to take pictures of yourself dangling upside down. But if anyone can do it you could. Lol.
I'm sure you will and you will succeed too. Convinced that you can do anything you set your mind to. :)
Keep working hard and as a coach, I know the importance of exercising and trying to stay fit.
Thanks,
Theo
Hey there my girl one step at a time, do what your body lets you do. Waking is good and it takes persistence on your part to achieve that goal. It will come. Standing in-front of those bars in intimidating like Evans said. But you are not a guy. Building ones strength is a life long goal.
There is a smoothie on my site that I totally recommend that you add to your daily routine and if you are on this roll and really want to accomplish your goals have a look. Let me know and I will PM it over to you.
We need to help one another and if I can help It would be my pleaser to do so.
Always a better way
sending blessings your way
Linda
PS writing it in your Journal is a good habit to keep. It helps you to stay on track. (O:)
Have a great weekend Veronica, those bars look intimidating, each time you go to the park walk straight up to them grab hold and try to pull yourself up. Won't happen the first time but do it every time , even just start by holding the weight of your body 1 minute then two then three won't take long at all before you are doing those chin ups.
