1 Year with WA!
Hello everyone!
I just want to make a small acknowledgment that my page has surpassed the 1 year mark.
As I look back, the time just kind of flew by, it feels like yesterday when I discovered WA. In this time, I accomplished a lot with my website:
- Wrote 66 pages of content for a total of 120k words. Currently, I'm focusing on best of lists, which are longer articles (4k words) that require more research and work.
- Grew my email subscribers to around 200, my FB page to over 100 and twitter in pinterest followers to around 50.
I'm focusing on FB and email, especially with giveaways. I don't work much on the other two. - I'm getting around 1500 organic traffic per month. This is pretty stable for a while. I have updated many of the old articles and together with new content, I hope to increase it further.
- Currently I'm earning around 10$ per month, all through Amazon.
Just like I said in the last blog, the writing part is my Achilles heel. I really should write more. The new job (I'm a janitor) allows me to have a couple of hours of downtime every day, so I'm using this as best as possible.
I can't do much work in the afternoon, because of two small kids and it's 9pm when they get to bed.
Luckily, I'm not under any financial pressure. The new job is great. I have a lot of duties, but I plan out my chores myself and it's not too stressful. The pay is actually decent (I expected it to be worse).
So, work, live the life and do as much writing as possible on the side. That's the plan for now and I'll see where it takes me.

Indeed. I can't believe the second child is over a year already. (He was the catalyst for me quitting the former job and eventually discovering WA).

I think one thing that you may want to focus on is the revenue element. You are starting to get a good amount of traffic, in all reality 1500 visitors per month is equivalent to $750 worth of traffic on the low end.
You may want to have a look at your top traffic pages and see if there are ways in which you can better monetize them through other quality affiliate programs (outside of Amazon) or make tweaks to the call to actions on these pages to amplify your conversions.
A really solid year you have put in, and if you push forward like this in the year ahead you can absolutely expect another year of growth. 1,500 uniques per month is going to be a drop in the bucket compared to the traffic you are getting at this point next year.
Thanks for the comment, Kyle. If I look at this year's statistics so far:
9500 users, 792 clicks to amazon, that's roughly 8%.
Then on Amazon, I had 47 ordered items for a 5.93% conversion.
I don't have much experience, but these numbers seem pretty decent to me. Are they?
The problem is the low commission per item, but that is niche dependant, so can't really do much here.
What I can do is look for a higher commission %. Amazon offers 3% - I have joined a couple of programs that offer 6%, but no sales from those yet.
I will keep on learning and improving my writing and marketing skills, on-page SEO, CTA's and so on, but so far, I can't see making $750 out of 1500 visitors.
