Learning to Be A Social Creature Without Time
I've always been a bit of a lone wolf by nature.
It's not that I didn't thrive in company nor occasionally need friends but I've always needed my space and time to myself. I am very rarely on Facebook. When I went to sign up for Pinterest by the advice on WA, I already had but I don't remember ever signing up for it. I didn't even have a Twitter account until I started my business.
When I want to socialize I leave my house and find someone face-to-face. Not so easy to do with an online business, right?
I've just always got something else I need or prefer to be doing. There is only so much time in one day.
So I finally got around to finishing up the last lesson in the 4th Online Certification Course. Again, that always gets tossed to the backburner (only 24 hours, remember?). I figured that it was more important to focus on content as the first priority. I've got a minimum amount of posts a week (2 to be exact) I try to put out and that always get priority over everything else. It's almost like a ritual now: post content, get comments, index in Google, post in Pinterest, G+ (even though I've been stopping because that avenue is getting shut down in the near future), and repeat. I haven't even touched Twitter or Facebook yet.
I've am hitting my half year mark pretty soon and this whole time I've been questioning whether or not I'm doing this right. Still making no money yet and only have one post ranked on the top page of Google.
Now, don't misread me, this isn't a complaint. I LOVE what I am doing and I'm still incredibly motivated because I didn't expect to make any money the first year. But today, I was going to post another pin in Pinterest and get some comments started. I noticed in my Pinterest that I'm getting attention. One of my pins in the last week had over 200 impressions, one has been pinned by someone, and my monthly viewers was over 300. When did this happen?!
Then, I decided to go over some lessons because, frankly, I just didn't want to read any posts and leave comments and all that. I'm really glad I did! Because the last lesson reaffirmed that with what (little) time I do have to devote to my work, I'm making the most of it.
So Thank You WA and community!! It's working!
I feel like this is starting to get some traction. If you are like me and only have a few hours in a day you can devote to this, make your content first priority. Second, pick one or maybe two social media that you can benefit from using and don't worry about the others until you've got more time to do it. But always content first!!
Thanks again to everyone here at WA! I'm starting to feel like I know what I am doing and now with this new empowerment, I want to start giving back.
But my kid just woke up and now I need to get back to taking care of my highest priority.

Social media can be time consuming but I have to admit I love it. I able to keep up with family and friends all over the world. Jim
I keep Facebook around for the purpose of peeking in on people and seeing how they are doing. So I get ya.
Just don't have time for it mostly. Always got something else to do.
Thanks for talking!
What a reassuring read. I am working my way through the training, only on module 2 so far, but I am enjoying it because I am actually learning things that I have never had any experience in before. I haven't even thought about social media yet and what, where and how to do that, but it will come I'm sure.
Anyway thanks again
Heather
Hi Heather,
It's been the same for me. I've learned a lot here. Routines seemed to be working so far for me strangely enough. Once you hit that hurdle, you'll find your groove.
Thanks for talking with me!
Tina,
Thank you for sharing - I was worried about things with doing
them right also, and Social Media is not something I am good
at or familiar with so I am lacking in getting this finished the
only thing I was good at was Facebook so that I have done
and yes I am getting likes working on Pinterest now but having
a hard time - knowing content comes first is always my
priority so I will get to Pinterest in my time :)
Yeah, tell me about it! I'm just now getting comfortable with Pinterest and have barely looked at Twitter.
With Pinterest, I think I update it about every couple of days. Content definitely comes first.
Thanks for talking with me!

From one lone wolf to another. I love people and I love my time by myself. I can be happy either way. But we all need to go out and howl with our pack every now and then. Take time for yourself and make time for others is a motto I kinda like. Have a great weekend. HOOOOOOOOOwwwwwwwwwwwwLLLLLLL!
Yes, I agree! It's really easy to lose yourself in your business. I even forget to eat sometimes.
