How much is enough?
I've just returned from a brief time away from home and the work/family routine. While away I met and spent most of my time with a couple I had not known previously. I was introduced to them via my college aged son who is friends with their daughter. We were all away together for a college sporting event and much of my time was spent with this couple.
Trying to be brief, I want you to know that I enjoyed their company tremendously and would love to travel with them again. What I perceived and my son confirmed to be true was that they are 'retired' while in their late 50's. In my view, they are independently wealthy. This wasn't inherited monies, rather earned from hard work and being in the right place at the right time and investing properly. Both are active in their community and are or have been board members of various committees, whether for hospitals, banks, civic organizations or the school board. Not having to report to a place of business has allowed them this opportunity. Not to even mention their travel abroad and the opportunities afforded their daughter. All of which I think are wonderful.
This has had me thinking... there are so many things that I would like to do. I don't have to be independently wealthy to do them, but it made me think along those lines. Perhaps this is the reason I was drawn to this website, to help augment my income. But it also encouraged me to seek out those opportunities now. We all have free time to do with what we want. For some, it is work. Others prefer something else.

With some product launches I promote, I donate a portion of my earnings to charity. Sometimes I advertise that in my affiliate promotions and sometimes I don't. This tends to drive me a little bit more when I promote. :)
I too would love to give back. I was just telling someone the other day that I would love to sponsoring events in the community and such. It would be neat to be able to whip out the ol' check book and write a fat check without having to think about it! I can't wait...
If I were independently wealthy i suppose i would want to give back. There are a few people that i owe everything to and i would not be where i am if not for them. Namely my mother and my sister. I would make sure they would never have to work again get them anything they wanted. The main reason why i want to become successful financially is to be able to give back not only to charities but the community i lived and grew up in. Of course there are other things like traveling and buying a nice house and car but all that will come in due time i suppose ;).
I like to feed people. Buy groceries at Christmas and Thanksgiving and have it delivered by somebody else. Got upset when I heard about the people stranded at the airport due to the ash emissions in Europe. They had no credit card or money to buy food. Would love to have been there to take them to dinner. Life is more possible on a full stomach.
