Are you adding value or cr*p to the Internet?

Every time you are about to either put a new piece of content on the Internet, such as articles, blog posts, whatever, or you are about to create a product such as an ebook, audio or video, think to yourself whether the Internet will be a better place or worse place from your contribution.
Right now, there is so much sh1t on the Internet, it’s not even funny, and because of dodgy marketers filling it up with more crap, it is becoming more and more difficult to find information you need.

For example, a few weeks ago, I tried to search the Internet to find a way to cure Tinnitus. I found a couple of products that claimed they worked, one was a physical product and another was an Ebook. Can you guess what I found when I searched for “tinnitus product name review”? I got a load of those bloody review sites where people were obviously just pushing the product to get a commission.

Having been around a while, and shamefully have created sites like this myself in the past, it was clear to me that the people creating these sites didn’t have a clue whether the products really worked or not.

So, back to my original point, if you are about to create one of these, think to yourself, are you leaving the Internet in a better position than when you found it?

Look, I know Google makes mistakes, and they are doing some uncool stuff at times, but the main reason for a lot of these recent updates, is to weed out crap that clearly isn’t helping the searcher. Remember that behind all these keyword searches, are REAL people looking for REAL solutions.

It takes extra work, but if you can really take the time and effort to create a site or product that helps people, you will never have to worry about how to get traffic, and how to sell, because people will do it for you.

I still see questions about how to spin articles. Is that adding value to the internet or filling it with more junk? I think you know the answer. Ha ha, I remember I used to use this software which could create 500 version of one article. Then I used another piece of software which would submit these articles to over 1000 article directories overnight on auto-pilot….oh dear.

You can’t do that stuff these days, and you shouldn’t (in my opinion). However, if you took that time to create one REALLY good, helpful article, then either uploaded to a more popular directory or place it on your own website, then shared on a social network, you will get so much more value from it. Do that 2 or 3 times a week, and then you really have something.

Always keep in mind what do people want and what are they searching for? They are searching for good quality information which is going to help them.

Oh…and it doesn’t always have to be pages long, the number of pages doesn’t equal the quality of the product. If you could write one paragraph on how to cure baldness, people would pay for that all day long…

I truly enjoy your writing style; very honest and informative. Do you have more subject-related articles I can read?

Wouldn't it be great when Google does figure out how to weed out all that rubbish? Just yesterday I was searching the products of a spam email I had gotten. I didn't get to the bottom of the first page of the SERPs when I ran into two of those idiotic hook & bait negative reviews with headlines made to get folks to click in.

I really wish the search engines would find a way to put 2+2 together and derank these things out of the SERPs altogether. It's really annoying and like you say, just things to promote, most of these (inexperienced) marketers get the drift that this is something one can do, and so they go at it.

I believe I actually did this myself when I was new to all this, even before I came to WA.

Another thing is the videos people sign up to see, full of total rubbish about the shiny object being pushed. I just came to one this morning and it is a great one to break apart and put a presentation on here to show the new folks what to watch out for.

This one is "Sniper X" It is supposed to sniper Google at its own game. Set this thing up and do 1-2-3! Watch the money fall from the sky. The owner is shown on a hammock with his laptop! I guess this selling the image with eye candy still works wonders for unethical marketers.

It really fries my arse!

Oh, it's worth $6,000, but the author knows most people can't afford it so he drops it down to $600 to $300 to $100, to finally $47.

Goes on to state how its development cost thousands, untold thousands to create by his two teams of developers. AAARGH!

It's supposed to be FREE
Then it's "almost" free.
Then there's this donation which he calls the $47 to be exacted from the lucky very few being able to access the video!

Rubbish CRAP Bloody shee-it!

You hear people talking about joining these things, inquiring about them in the Live Chat. It was in the Forum too before the Chat. Some have purchased these things. I've been asked about what to do with them by a member or two in here.

At the bottom of the page, after the video (better hurry before the "Donate" button disappears and all there is, is the video with nothing beneath. Urgent Call to Action!

Yes, in order to try the thing for free one month, the donation of $47 is required.

This kind of rubbish is what makes a bad name for WA before folks even start to consider!

Thanks for such a meaningful very educational post you put here. I'm very glad you are still with us. You and Marcus helped me when I was a newbie on here. I didn't make my presence known until a month after I joined before I finally tried the Forum and began my lessons. There are so many coming in here now that help is really needed.

Thumbs up!

Hi Daniel

Thanks for the detailed reply. Yeah, I used to get really angry with these types of pitches, probably because I used to fall for them a lot. Normally you can tell it's going to be crap when they start with: Here's what you don't need, a website, a list....etc. Then leads into: you will make money almost instantly, it will force people to stuff your pockets with money...blah blah blah.

The funny thing with IM stuff, is unless you hype it, a lot of people won't buy it, because all they want to see are the big numbers. When they see someone saying "I use this to make $1000 a month", they look and think "is that all, I want to make that a day".

The stark reality is most people won't ever make it, because it takes a lot of work, lots of testing, tweaking, putting some money on the line, and to just keep at it.

Oh yeah, and I love those count downs too. Not 1997, not even 997...for today only, it's......7 bucks lol

Ok, rant over lol

Cheers
Phil

This is why we have the 5% and the other 95%. They go after the masses. We go after the individuals. The go after quantity. We go after quality. They regard them as fish. We regard them as human beings. They love the money. We love the souls.

I agree with you on quality content. The hard part is actually selling using it. So many people are used to being sold, instead of choosing for themselves.
