Your 'like' button doesn't work!

Sometime ago there was a conversation about how to use the 'like' button.

This is my take on it. As much as it is a 'like' button, to me it is also a 'I've read your comment' button. Just a curtesy to let the other person know you are reading or have read whatever they have written.

There is also another use for this button, to improve a person's ranking here on WA. So I always like a comment even if I don't agree with it....then if I don't agree I can write a comment saying so.

Which brings me to another point: The follow button. For me personally when I follow someone I read their profile, then like them and then write a comment on their profile page. I don't just say 'I'm following you'...I think they know that, they get a notification. I might ask a question or wish them well. When someone follows me, I always follow them back. The reason is, they like me, and that's gotta be good. I will also always read their profile and leave a little comment.

Remember to like their page if you enjoyed their blog, that also helps their rating...we all need a leg up.

But....when you have 1,000's of followers this may become entirely impractical...I'm not there yet!

We all love good feedback....give some.

Good advice Michael! And you are getting closer and closer to thousands of followers. It is simply a matter of time! All the best, Steve

Don't make me panic just yet Steve! Thanks for dropping in!

No panic my friend.............we will have a party to celebrate! Steve

I'll bring the wine!

I got the cheese and crackers brother !

....and the dancing girls? Or do I have to bring them? LOL!

Let me check with my wife real quick and I will get back to you :-)

So true, Michael, it is at least a courtesy to do that. I love to use the "like" button, lol. Thanks for sharing! :))

Thank you Jewel..because we can't see each other it's nice to have acknowledgment!

I usually click on 'like' even if I don't like the topic, just to show acknowledgement that I've read what they have to say :)

My sentiment exactly!

Do my best, and YES, that's very important work......

Thanks for coming by Therese...vielen danke! Michael

Gern geschehen! ☺

Meine Deutsch is ganz schlect and my speeling is awful!..I would love it if I use a few phrases with you in comments if you could correct it....if you have the time?

Lets try that, have to get some sleep first, see you very soon!

Sweet dreams Therese!

Good post, Michael, I suppose it is whatever you feel comfortable with There is no right or wrong with it. We are all different. The key to online success is following in reverse ( so folks following or liking you ) and engagement. The training is very subtle here at WA blink and sometimes you miss it. It all starts somewhere and hitting that like button and commenting is a very good place to start. For me all notifications are on the water pours through the port holes on a daily basis in a deluge. The upshot you learn so many skills dealing with an onslaught of emails.

...and don't you have to be fast Sidetrack? (Sorry, I had to slip that in...the one and only time)

Really good post, full of good points, we are here to help each other, and clicking the like button is part of that, isn't it:-))
Steph

It goes without saying...although I said it, didn't I? Thanks for dropping in Steph!

I said it as well, so maybe it doesn't, but it does.:-))

ROFL!

Good point, thanks for sharing

Thanks Junati and thanks for dropping in!

Good stuff, Thanks Michael!

Thanks for dropping in Vince!

No problema. Always!

GET BACK TO ME WHEN YOU HAVE 1000 FOLLOWERS. SORRY, MY CAPS BUTTON IS BROKEN. MY LIKE BUTTON IS NOT. :)

You didn't get to the end of my blog......?

No, I read the whole thing word for word.

Then I mentioned once you get over 1,000 this advice is impractical or were you meaning something else and I missed it? I've missed something here?

You said it "may" be unreasonable. I said let me know when you get there.

Or impractical rather. Sorry.

I will! The man who amazes me the most and I actually think he is a rogue program in my computer is PjGermain....he is everywhere at once...is he Neo from 'Matrix'? Yes I did say 'may' because I'm not sure whether I'll have a team of ghost writers....lol!

great post.

Thanks Michael!
