I have been going through some of my older posts on my website, somebody told me adding featured images was a good idea, I agreed, so decided to get on with that today.
I
Heheheheeheeheehee, ha, ha, ha. thanks for that teddy bear, you always make me giggle.:-))Steph
That sounds very worrying.
1) I would raise a ticket with support to get your security status looked at and strengthened if possible
2) Suggest you remove those links first,
3) Get rid of any previous versions of the page/post that has those links,
4) Consider changing passwords (although this might make logging on to your website from WA difficult - can't remember whether that's easily solvable).
Most important here is to contact support to have them check things out...
Good luck,
Al
Thanks for answering this question Al, I was a little worried about the security issue. I will get on to support now.:-))Steph
Right then, Al, what happened was, 800,000 different Wordpress websites were hacked, by the Russians according to the BBC news, though I have no idea myself. I was just troubled with strange links within my post text, another member of Wealthy Affiliate had foul language and filthy graphics pasted over her website.
I did get in touch with support, but before they got back to me I sent them a link to the BBC story, telling them that this was what I thought the problem probably was.
Since then I have also updated the web sites to 4.7.2, this update was just for that reason, I also updated from HTTP to https, as that is more secure.
Sorry, this is so long, but you did ask me to let you know, and please, if you haven't updated, update all of your sites now, it is important, as the hackers were putting malware on some sites.
Have a Great day,:-))Steph
That's awesome, so glad you manage to get to the bottom of it and hopefully will no longer see this type of issue.
And, letting me know the outcome was really good of you - it's really great to see that an issue is sorted out, so thanks for posting back (and it's not too long at all!).
Best,
Al
