hi Tracey ... super question as I recall needing an answer to this one some time ago as well ...
as it turned out, it is best to update the theme you've selected to build with plus one of the default say, 'Twenty Twenty' as they anchor things (just paraphrasing) .....
anyway, hope it all works ok for you .....
all the best ... :)
*** you're most welcome, happy to be of help! .... enjoy the amazing WA journey to Success, cheerio .... :) ***
yes, generally it's best to go ahead and update promptly, any and all themes, plugins, wordpress versions et al .... ok? ....
... good, it's vital to keep moving forward .... appreciate your interest & participation in asking questions when you're unsure, however, gotta keep going ....
.... and if you're ever in doubt, simply test out anything 'new' or 'different' in a 'sandbox' (as Jay says) or on a test site ....
... it's important to take action .... don't allow 'paralysis' to settle in .... as that will only stop your progress ... we're all learning here and of course, there's always going to be ups and downs so to speak, but don't let that stop you! ...
.... go well! ... cheerio ... :)
plus, I see Yvonne (YvonneBray) has given you a helpful reply step by step ... that's right, click on those steps! .... it'll be fine!
Thank you for taking the time to ensure all is going well and the continued encouragement. To your prolonged success have a fabulous day.
If prompt for an update, do it and see the difference. If you don't like what you see, you can always go back to the last one. I never had any problems with the updates when notified or prompt to do so. Best wishes!
Wordpress--> Appearance-->Themes--> The first one on the list should be the theme you are using. If it does not say "activate" then it is the one that is active
