Nothing Personal, Just Business.

How many times have you heard 'Nothing personal, just business' ? Normally in a film, or book, right before the bad guy does something fairly unsavoury. I think it's meant to make the recipient of the forthcoming act of 'undesiredness' feel better. Being in that situation, I might find it a stretch to placate with "Absolutely, not a problem, do whatever you have to do, it's all good"

Why am I writing this blog and what does it have to do with WA ? In reverse order, let's start with what it has to do with WA.

When I started here, as most of us did, as a 'Free Starter' I used the first few days to have a good look around the site. Obviously I liked what I found as I went Premium after about five days. In that time, one of the things I did most was read other members blogs. It was an 'eye-opener' for sure. Even more than that, were the comments that were left. Words of encouragement, empathy and shared experiences, to name but a few. The subject matter was so diverse.

I'm sure the technical side of things was also good but it was a bit beyond me so I stuck with the blogs. I knew if I was going to stay the distance and build a site and learn, well, I'd need to step up my game. Actually I'd need to find the game first before being able to step it up. I hadn't written anything of note since school. I did know, however, that WA was the best place to begin that journey. Who better to put your work in front of, than those who were already making a success of their own websites and businesses.

Was it a daunting prospect, of course it was. You make yourself vulnerable when you post, opening yourself up to the scrutiny of others. That was my own lack of self belief or confidence. I wasn't overly worried about the comments though because everything I had seen had been supportive and encouraging.

Come the end of this month, I will have been here six months (Yes, I know for some, it must seem painfully longer) During that time I have managed to throw together over one hundred blogs. A mixture of all sorts. Eclectic but with intent, each and every one. I'm not the judge of whether they are good or not, useful or not. That's for the reader to decide and we're all very different people. If one person reads something I've written and takes away something they didn't have before, that does it for me. It won't always happen but when it does then it's part of a beautiful process. Those words have made a difference.

So, in summation of those last few paragraphs and connecting them to the point of being relevant to WA. Are all of my blog posts WA related? I don't think so, some of you may even struggle to categorise them. Sometimes, I have to go back and check something in one of my posts and I don't even recognise the writing. I look and think "What am I on about ?" That happens more often than not.

Let's seamlessly segue into the first part of the title. Why am I writing this ? The other day I was reading a post, it was probably the third one I had read of this particular members. They were all relatively short, easy to read and gave food for thought. You know, made you think about the 'why's' of life in a 'taking on a new challenge or career path, or both.' kind of way. There was a common thread though. It was a self deprecating theme. Not a cry for help, that's overly melodramatic. More of a 'I could do with some advice on how to do this blogging lark' and 'I hope, with your guidance, I'll get better.'

I left a comment. Short and sweet with, what I hoped, were some encouraging words of advice, more an idea to 'play' with. I don't know if these words were taken on board or not. However, a few hours later, another post appears and this one is so totally different, you couldn't be blamed for thinking it was written by anothers hand. It was beautifully written and very moving. Very personal to the person who wrote it. I commented, along with a handful of others. Everyone was of the same opinion, it was a heartfelt post and one that would have 'touched' those who read it.

Humbleness and integrity. Later the same evening I was drawn to the post via notifications, a reply to my comment. A 'thank you' for commeting and an apology. Interesting. The apology was for writing a 'personal' post. The writer was unaware that he should not write 'personal' posts.

Really ? I have managed to speak to the member whose post it was and queried the apology, they said that they had seen it somewhere, that you shouldn't write personal blog posts. I will draw from that, that it was from the 'Rules' and 'Guides' about blogging and for your pleasure I have added them below. The full link and some of 'snips' that are salient, I think.

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/wealthy-affiliate-t...

This last image is my personal favourite because, for fear of exciting those who are 'sticklers' for the rules and regulations, it throws us mere mortals a bone.

Not overlooking everything else laid out, I draw you eye towards the last two paragraphs and the very last one in particular. In legal terms would it be classed as a 'loophole' ? Maybe, maybe not. I'm not looking it at it as a way of posting my rewritten love letters from a nurse I was smitten with when I was younger, not that they would need censoring, more that I'm not sure it would be of benefit to anymore. Is that the key then, being of benefit ?

I know the platform runs pretty much without moderation and that allows us the freedom to express ourselves as we see fit. Are our posts always going to be 'of benefit' probably not, are they always going to be about business or WA, nope. Should they at least have good intent, sure, why not.

You shouldn't feel the need to put a tenuous link to WA at the end. I could write about cornflakes for breakfast, how they're like being here at WA. At first everything is fresh and 'tasty' and then the milk gets warm and the cornflakes go soggy, a bit like our journey here at WA, you have make the most of the first part and then endure the second as all of it is good for you and tomorrow will bring you a fresh bowl.

The rules and regulations are most definitely there with good reason and should be adhered to but as well, we have to be our own judge and jury, surely. If you're happy with a post then PM the member, they may be unaware of the 'rules'.

Upon reading I leave it up to you to draw your own conclusions. Your thoughts are always welcome. Meanwhile, I'm off to write my next post which is entitled 'Mylie Cyrus and Fly Fishing'

Have a stupendous day.

I must confess to never having read these 'rules'. I just figured they ( the blog posts) were... well... opportunities to blog about our experiences within and related to WA, which could be interpreted widely, given the diverse population!
I kinda took for granted the 'no religious or political' posts, and of course, support appears to be innate here!
Whoops, shows my pedantic love of rules. πŸ€”πŸ˜‰ But, really - you have to know them to play your game most effectively.... Besides, then you find out which ones can bend....
Thanks for bringing this to our attention in true 'Twack' style :)

You are very welcome. You are right, of course. Quite often though our blogs give context to our experiences, by adding that personal touch. It doesn't have to be a autobiography or a 'Dear Diary' just some of 'us' every now and then.

Yes, they give context and help us to structure and clarify, even focus - I need to do another blog! Haha!

I love that feeling, when you know you've got one, ready to hit the page.

πŸ€“πŸ™‚πŸŽ΅πŸŽˆπŸ€—πŸ˜

T,
In reality, personal posts are part of the path we are on... in my way of thinking.
The challenges, successes, and everything in between and beyond is what makes us unique...
As long as it's not spam... post away I say!!
S

I agree with you, the exhaustion, frustration, learning, joy, celebration πŸ₯³ is all part of this journey we are promoting. I love our supportive community. Also it is a great place to learn and practice how to blog.

Yes!!

Absolutely, if you take that away you'll lose the soul of the platform. We all add our own 'ingredient'.

So here's the thing, new people, who have absolutely no knowledge of affiliate marketing, Google, Jaaxy, email lists, etc. Come here and fear blogging, because what do you blog about? You have no success to report, no knowledge to share.

So you write about personal stuff. I get the rules, I really do. What you write needs to be relevant to what we are trying to achieve here, if not facebook is available for general updates on what we ate, or pictures of our children in school uniforms. However, I think if someone is feeling frustrated struggling, ill or needs help, then that is what we are here for. We are a family.

Someone asked how do I get more conversions to premium and how do I get people to stay. 1) don't make it all about the money. 2) get to the heart and soul or the why.

Oh hang on, that is what YOUR post is about. I will be quiet now ; )

Great blog, Sara!!! X lol
Honestly, this is all gold!

BOOM!
So now we lose Mylie to fly fishing?

I thought twerking had her.

Blessings

BOOM now, now, play nicely with the other children 🀣

Fly Fishing Success with Twerking!!
Twerk Bait!

Ok... I'm done...

What a combo, I can see that taking off down at my local fishing lake 🀣

Don't worry Gabriel, we shall reel her back in.

Boom! (As reportedly said by Stephen Larsen of CF.)

Both Prof Rwack and I are way too ignorant on dance stuff. Since you are the undisputed trampoline (careful now, no typos) dance battle champion, can you tell us about your 2021 video marketing plan?

Blessings!

BOOM!

Prof Twack and I wonder about your phrase "taking off" when used in connection with Miley and "fly fishing".

Blessings!

BOOM! I will revoke any statement made, in fear that Miley will sue.

That said I do think the twerking/fly fishing combo could be incorporated to the TrampOnaline series of videos.

I fear I am once again, balancing on a thin line of violating 'the rules' but why break a habit of a lifetime!

BOOM!

"That said I do think the twerking/fly fishing combo could be incorporated to the TrampOnaline series of videos."

Definitely unlimited potential.

Not being a light weight tonight then?

BOOM!

Bravo.

I am speechless beyond that.

Blessings!

BOOM!

That is all : )

BOOM!

Better go to church and ask Padre if your 2021 video marketing strategy is kosher.

As for prof Twack and I, we fully approve of your "strategery" on going viral.

In fact, the illustrious Prof applied his famous two prong approach in saying, to wit: "Definitely unlimited potential.", in which prong 1 is "definitely" and prong two is "unlimited" while "potential" is more of a neutral term.

Blessings!

BOOM!
I will run my Marketing strategy passed Padre just to ensure Kosher status.

Prof Twack now has delusions of grandeur, as to the fact that he is now branding himself as a 'doctor'. I am worried the two pronged approach may become even more painful when he starts messing with minds!

ps. Since when have you been speechless?

pps. Blessings

BOOM!

I always go straight in for the read and comment on your blogs so apologies, I have liked after I bolted and left the building 🀣

You are funny Sara lol

All of my blogs are out then. I’ll await the new violation to add to my Quora one 🀣πŸ’ͺ🏻.

My writing comes from inside me, my life experience, my experiences of being a human being in this world.

I’ll happily put my financial advisor entrepreneur hat on, but I think if we do all head, with no heart and soul, it would lose my interest very quickly.

What I love about WA is the community and family. It is just like coming to the office, we tell each other we are feeling a bit off, or are a bit angry about something. We also share our life stories and successes. This mixed with the training, tools and business side is what attracted me to stay.

As a new member there wasn’t much I could bring to the table, other than the pieces of me and my life I could share. I relate them to affiliate marketing just as easy as I could relate cornflakes (in fact there is a whole new idea for a violating blogs series)

I’m a terrible Maverick for the rules anyway. Just like Tom Cruise in Top Gun, I am always the one requesting a flyby, being denied, but doing it anyway! As long as I live by my moral compass and ideas if oneness and FairPlay I’m sure it will be ok, ( I hope 😬)!

Much love
Sara

I like you, Sara, very much :)

Thank so much, what a lovely thing to say πŸ’•. I am replying in true maverick style to the rules, with love xx

Exactly. I don't think you have anything to worry about. It's too subjective. Those that tend to admonish, choose their moments wisely.

I am not worried, (as you know) I would never compromise what I have worked so hard to realise and be.

Hi Twack, first of all, if you have time to spare maybe you should create a siterubix site and use it to chronicle your thoughts about the cute nurse πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ that you were smitten πŸ₯° with lol I would read πŸ™‹πŸ½β€β™€οΈ OK I am sorry I just couldn’t let that part of your post slide πŸ˜‚

On to the serious stuff, you raise very good points I for one didn’t know that you are not supposed to blog about personal stuff so I will keep that in mind.

I have learned a few things from your post thank you so much for sharing πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

I too am very interested in a website about the chronical of the cute nurse πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ 🀣 it’s a winner!

I got the title ready, The Chronicles Of Twackalicious And The Cute Nurse lol

It is a goer 🀣 now we just need Twack to agree to the series πŸ˜‚.

lol, We shall see what he thinks about this once he is done with the Mylie Cyrus and the fly fishing, I think @showolf said that the fly fishing is done while twerking lol or is it fly fishing and twerking.

OK I am done too lol

There is a whole meld there waiting to happen 🀣 and Twack is the man for the job!

Hey Rose, everything in moderation I guess. As for the other matter, all in good time, all in good time.

I so cannot 'twerk'

Bet you can! ; )

You have a waiting audience! You would spend a month, on SEO and Jaaxy, to get the audience you already have for this!

I've tried, believe me. A distinct lack of neuro-communication. Posterius incommunicado.

lol, you guys are killing me lol

surely if you put your mind into it, I think it's doable lol

I can cross one eye but twerking eludes me.

If we make it to Vegas, You are Twerking!

wow! now that's a talent, how do you cross one eye, I am very curious.

Hang on a minute, wait (my brain is just catching up) YOU HAVE TRIED TWERKING! That has made my night : )

Both eyes, independently of each other. The question is, when do you realise you can do it.

Deal

when?

lol

OMG, I am gonna get all my family members to join WA including my grandmother just so I can make it to Vegas and watch this :) lol

If you agree you have to really try to get there, although you have a head start on me! So you will probably have to twerk alone or with the other successful top dogs ; )

he only agreed, because he knows he won't have to pay up on the deal lol Your Grandmother is safe, she doesn't have to start affiliate marketing hahaha

lol, it would have taken something to make my grandmother understand affiliate marketing :) but I was willing to do whatever it takes to make it so I can watch the big twerking challenge.

Beats me, I have no idea.

Hi Twack,
Really enjoyed this post and thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I am impressed you have over 100 blogs in six months.

Keep it going and all the best to you.

Darren :)

You're welcome Darren and thank you. I think I need to get out more, maybe.

You've got a great sense of humor. I love this blog.

I am new at blogging and I do want to write blogs. There are things I want to share but I am a little skeptical about how to do it here at WA.

I do spend a fair amount of time to read others blog and see how they go about writing theirs's.

Anyway your blog here has just gotten my wheels spinning!

Hi Carol, that's exactly how I went at it. Just read as much as I could. Open and honest. Not sure how long it was before I 'went off on one' though, not long probably. Updates with a spattering of humour. I just wrote and wrote and then wrote some more.
Thanks for saying 'Hi' and your kind words.

Totally understand. We all become friends here at WA (or at least 98% of the time) so sometimes people just want to get something off their chest, or share a particular pain they're experiencing , sometimes they simply want others to be aware of a light hearted moment in their lives or a trip they've recently been on.
It only becomes an issue when it's overdone (like anything in life). Personally I believe that as long as the majority of your blogs are informative and WA related , then to digress occassionly is fine. Jim

See, I wish I could sum up in such a succinct and 'on point' way. Nicely put Jim.

Great post...a lot out there need reminding
Cheers
Daisy

Thanks Daisy, I originally wrote this a few days ago and it was a little less 'refined' one could say. I sat on it, got my facts straight and came back with a revised version, which sits better, I think. 'Sat' 'sit' not sure why I've gone with those words. Posturing maybe.

You knew I’d be raging, didn’t you! Did you run scared for the hills and amend? 🀣πŸ’ͺ🏻.
