I've just gone through this training, which is linked from the Affiliate Bootcamp: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/manually-adding-google-analytics-to-your-website

If you are working with a different site, then use it? If the same then leave things as they are. I hope this will add some clarity if it's on the line of what you are asking. I am sure you will get some more impetus, and more clarity.
Cheers.
Sheree

I agree with you Sheree, that's what I'll do! As you say, maybe we'll get some clarity on the contradictions sometime, meantime I'll stay as I am.

Stumped on this one!

That's two of us then :-)

A few weeks into website building I'm not happy with some decisions I made early on. I'm talking about how I want the website to look and work. The reason I'm not too happy is

We all continue learning as we progress, this doesn't mean you should scrap all your previous hard work and effort. Maybe your new knowledge will compliment what you've already done?

I still find myself constantly updating older posts due to the fact I've learned something new that works for existing work. This is perfectly fine, the search engines like you improving in this way. It shows a desire to improve upon what you have to offer your readers.

I'm delighted to hear that about the search engines! The more responses I get to my question, the more I realise that my frustration is really just the desire to improve that you mention. Great advice, thank you Jason!

Hi, Tuze. Passion is the trick to it all, you can do 100 websites, and they will all be great only if they are what you have a passion for. People that are doers will find themselves in a place like WA, and most likely we are the people that have many passions and interest, and when we realize them, then the skies the limit. build on what you love and like, and that will add value to others, and it all works. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers
Sheree

Hi Sheree. You are absolutely right, of course. I think I may have been swept away by the passion and have half built something that I realise I need to change. But, as everyone in this thread has pointed out, I'll get better at this the more I learn about the technical stuff. Thanks for responding, and best wishes.

It is all part of the learning process. The hands on helps you learn in a way that reading or watching videos cannot. So, even if you did decide to start with a second site, think how much easier and faster it would be.
Xin

Spot on Xin - you've cleared up my doubts very neatly. Thank You!

Hi Tuze,
It happend to me as well. I started with health products and realized that I need quite some traffic, because there is quite some competition and the products for health products are cheap. ( like green tea, goji berries ) , I've seen it is working, but a bit a wrong choice maybe... depends. So I thought why not my reall passion: 3D design. And so I started over again.
Yes I think sometimes we make 'mistakes' and hopefully we can make adjustments to it.

I think this is part of a learning process. It means we are getting better.
Regards,
Robert

I agree totally with your last line. Thanks!

I don't know if this helps, but I was in a similar situation and started a fresh site. Cheers

Great to hear I'm not the only one - thanks!

A basic idea is all that is needed to start. I wouldn't waste too much time thinking about it and just get started instead. it is more important to get your site up and indexed in Google. The early work you do is very basic anyhow.

If you need anything let me know.

ROCK ON!
E

I know you're right - it's just a bit frustrating, I guess, but as we learn more, we'll probably waste less time amending things, and getting it "more right" the first time round. Thanks for your input.

I understand and feel the same. I know my second site and each next site comes out better than the last as I learn more and more. I think of it as more along the lines of experience than anything else, just like in any other profession.

You're welcome. :-)

Is it best to know where you're going before you start?
