My AHA! Moment.

I joined the free WA on July 16th with high hopes of learning all about IM. The first thing I was asked to do was to set up a personal profile. At first I was a little nervous. I was thinking, "what can I say about myself that is interesting?". So I gave it a try and it wasn't so bad. Oh no now they want a picture of me. I don't take too many pictures of myself so that proved a little more difficult but I got it done. I then started the level 1 training. Only you veterans can comprehend how much information is put into these courses and lessons. Us newbies don't have a clue until we really get into it.

While going through the lessons, I was notified that people had sent me messages on my profile page and gave words of welcome and encouragement. What I didn't understand was why someone would follow me and why should I follow others. I asked another member about this and was told it is a way for you to get notified when another member posts a blog or training. I tried following a few people and reading their posts and I was blown away. I immediately looked at the list of ambassadors and started following all of them and reading everything they had to say. What an experience. So many great writers out there and different personalities. As a newbie, I thank you for sharing.

Back to the training, I was at the point of choosing a niche. Kyle said not to spend much time on this (maybe 10 minutes). Yeah, right Kyle. Maybe it's the perfectionist in me (like many of you) but I ended up spending days on this. I joined Jaaxy, saved at least ten lists and researched thousands of keywords. I told my wife almost everyday that I thought I had found my niche. I finally narrowed it down to three then to one (the home theater niche). In the mean time, I upgraded to premium and went ahead and created my website. To get ideas about pages, I looked at established websites on the web as well as those of our members here. I have to tell you I was overwhelmed with frustration because some of these sites have hundreds of pages and videos and dozens of categories. How could I compete with that. It wasn't until I read some of the posts here at WA that I settled down and told myself I can do this, one step at a time. To be honest though I wasn't all that comfortable with the niche I had chosen or any of the others I had on my keyword lists. In another post I read someone had the same feelings.

Are you ready for it?

I was over on Flippa looking for ideas for my pages when I looked at my old saved searches and there was one that caught my eye from three years ago. I decided to go to the website and check it out. It brought back memories of why I liked the site in the first place and suddenly it hit me. This is my niche. This is perfect. This was my AHA moment. I went over to Jaaxy and put in some keywords and I was pleasantly surprised to find great words to build content around. The niche I chose is Vegan/Vegetarian. I have been a vegan for over five years and I have enough knowledge and passion about this subject to start a website. I was so excited I spent the next ten hours building my site. I deleted my first website and started over. I bought a .com domain name and went through the lessons step by step. I am now ready to really launch my new career. It's a great feeling. Thanks for reading my story. Rick

Rick ,
Wonderful story!
Actually it sounds similar to mine. Maybe us 'Seasoned' in age just like to ponder over things carefully before making decisions. Perhaps it's due to precision or it could be due to the desire to succeed and not fail.
Anyway, all of us concerned about health should stick together and support one another. I'm already following you.
Best wishes on your WA journey....~LinaB

Good story !
... good niche too

Thanks Joanne I appreciate that.

That sounds pretty cool man, Best of luck!

Thanks Jr. I wish I were your age and had come to a place like this. I'm sure many of us feel that if we had found this kind of training available years ago just think where we could be now. I hope you know just how fortunate you are. Good luck my young friend.

Thanks man, how are you liking premium? I'm going to upgrade to the yearly I believe.

I don't think I could succeed without the additional training and support that the premium service provides. Good for you on the year commitment.

Hi Rick! Glad you are here and I look forward to watching you grow!

Sorry Shawn I didn't see this response this before I sent you the link. Thanks for looking and I will keep in touch.

Hi there! I'm vegan too and that is my niche. The more websites out there the better. In my case I knew instantly this would be my niche, and I'm glad you've managed to find it too. As it does require a lot of knowledge and passion, I've personally found so far that my passion overwhelms me to the point that I'm not sure what to write about next, or how to compete with the many great sites out there that all have so many people working on them. But I can do this and so can you. Maybe we can collaborate as we go along, especially as it's a huge niche. I can't happily narrow mine down further, as I'm also trying to target the hispanic market, but if you ever wanted to focus on something specific, such as vegan men, - we could feature on each other's sites maybe. I'm so glad you've found your niche and wish you the best of success! It's great to connect with you. Heather.

Thanks Heather. I did see your other post and like I said I look forward to learning more and sharing with you when I can. Thanks for the words of encouragment.

You're more than welcome.

I am a vegetarian and do 2 days a week vegan. There is huge potential. Only yday I was on a site all about books for veggie/vegan kids with an Amazon affiliate programming attached. Well done to you.

I agree there is a lot of good stuff out there about vegans and I want to be a part of educating the public about it.

Go Rick! I love your story. That A-Ha moment is so wonderful and feels so amazing! I am there with you. I feel so hopeful for my future. And I have to stop myself from posting 3 times a day. Because I have so much in my brain that wants to come out!

And I am going to follow you. Because.

The feeling was like a great weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I know this is just the first step of my journey but I wanted to share how I got to that point. Since I got through this first step I know I can get by all of them until I reach my goals.

Awesome, Wonderful - I am not a vegetarian but am glad that you had your aha moment and now can share something that your know about and can earn an income with. Thank You for sharing,

Tony

Thanks Tony.
