So I type text on word press and it looks good on my mobile but then breaks up on my pc, randomly cutting words in half on my PC version. Other thing is that I try and change it
The worst that should happen is that the text should reflow differently on different size browsers, Julie. There should be no words being cut in half or random header tags.
3 suggestions:
- try reloading WordPress again. In the admin area, go to Dashboard > Updates > Re-install Now (under "You have the latest version of WordPress...")
- When the H3 header disappears, right click on the page, then click on View Page Source. Look at the HTML code that comes up and see if the header text is still shown within Header here
tags. You can use Control-F (Command-F on the Mac) to help find the header in the HTML.
- Use a simulation tool to see what your site looks like on different devices. One such free tool is at http://www.opera.com/developer/mobile-emulator
Best of luck with it!
Dennis
Just using the ones that they told use to install. Looking at my website the mobile version seems to show different font than the pc one. Any reason why that would be?
Any mobile version will be slightly different that your PC. I've also noticed that the type of monitor on each PC makes a difference too.
I've got a super wide screen and everything looks fine. Yet when I look on a normal 4:3 monitor a few of my headings drop to a second row and look really bad.
I redesigned a bit and ditched/moved some heading dropdowns to find the best mix between monitors.
To my knowledge there is not a lot of control on how a sites converts to mobile - I think it's built into the themes we choose to use.
ROCK ON!

There are alot of experts in my niche and it would seem odd not to mention them. Not anything bad, just stuff about their skill area. What are the rules with this?
It is a good idea to link to other authorities within your niche. If fact, Jay (magistudios) specifically mentioned that this is a good idea in one of his WAbinars.
Well. I just thanked a WA member who gave me a right advice by name in a comment when forwarding the same advice to another WA member. I think its OK. An if I am sure an expert can help where somebody is struck, I think its OK - well as long as we do not receive compensation - and we are only helping.
Author and songwriter, Paul Simon stated, "there are 50 ways to leave your lover."
You have experts in your field that you would like to mention. The above example is a typical format for including a citation and quote from some expert.
Hi Julie!
If your niche is outside WA, you can refer to people and pages to your hearts content. For example, if my niche was face painting, I could mention MaryAnne McCartt and perhaps even her face painting ideas on Pinterest at https://www.pinterest.com/ragsoul/face-painting-ideas/
If it's already out there, no issues - and she might appreciate the mention and reciprocate!
Dennis
Just ask them for permission, they will tell you what you can and can't mention. I have quite a lot of WA testimonials and links to people here, but all asked personally.
Am I allowed to mention other people on my website?

....on your website. I know you can put your own on but what's the deal with links to other people's if they are good and will help your site.
I would be cautious - Many people put videos which are not theirs on Youtube - like songs, film trailers etc - and the share button is active. So make sure it is a video from the person/organisation or company who is the owner/has the copyright of the video before embedding.
If they have the share option then you should be fine. I would also give them credit by citation.
ROCK ON!

Sure just find the Share button. Then you should see the embed link. . People do welcome this and if they do not want their vids shared they make them private.
Yes I am able to add other people's youtube videos on my posts without any issues, you just need to grab there embed code and everything will work fine
It is like letter V, laying on right side. Try to go with cursor over this sign, I think it shows "share"
I checked and it lays on right side, you will see on videos as Robin Sharma. Type words Robin Sharma in YouTube, will show up his videos, more to right side is this sign or button.

I was trying to follow tutorials about making a header but am stuck at first hurdle. I cannot find the header.
Changing themes seems to have fixed it. Although that has thrown up new challenges! Onwards and upwards... Thanks
Got.. Go to Appearance, then Branding, then Customize. :) Have fun!!!
Let me know if it works for you.
Best of everything,
Eileen
On the Omega theme to have a header image you need to add code or purchase one of the child themes.
A child theme is used because when you make code changes and the theme is updated, these changes are lost, a child theme retains any code changes.
My best suggestion is changing your theme to one that lets you add a header image without changing the code. :)
? I added an image by following these steps:
Got.. Go to Appearance, then Branding, then Customize. :) Have fun!!!

I ould only see an option to put a logo not a header image in the branding bit Eileen, with the Omega theme. Is that the theme you're using?
If you mean the page Header...:
Try going to the "Appearance" Tab on the left menu. One of the choices is "Header." Click on that and it opens up a new work area. There you can upload your own image. Select Fonts for the Page Title... all sorts of fun stuff.
Hope this helps.
Your friend on this journey,
Eileen
I find it confusing. I have stuck with the omega theme but then there are options of child themes some of which it seems you have to pay for. That really confuses me. It's like a theme within a theme or something.

Sorry I can't help you Julie but hopefully, as the day wears on and our USA friends get going you should have some answers......will be interested myself so thanks for asking.

Julie,
Try this link : Make your own header . I have never used it myself (yet), but maybe it can be of some use to you.

Sorry girl. As I said, I never tried it myself.
However, I suggest you PM Loes directly and ask for help.
She is always more than willing to assist.
Hope you come right.
-Theuns
Thanks Theuns. Frustrating being stuck at first hurdle! I am sure once I get past that bit I should be fine. :)
I would be interested to see the outcome.
I want to spruce up my own site as well, because at the moment is looks real dull and bland.
Good luck with your endeavor.

Greetings Julie!
Ideally, you'd like to have the keyword in the URL of the page, in the page title, in one of the headings for your content, and in the content. You'll absolutely have to add other words in front of and behind your keyword within your content.
In fact, one of the rules we're taught here is that the keyword has to be something you can use (without alteration) in a sentence. Having said that, if you're using it in a sentence, you have to add other words to the keyword.
Google will sort it out, your site visitors will see the keyword they searched for, and all will be well with the world.
Best of luck with your efforts!
Dennis
Thanks Dennis. It is grammatically correct but just thing it will sound better in a sentence.
Google will find your keyword do not worry. You can add anything in front of it, or behind it. Juts make sure that you have the same keyword in meta-title, meta-description, url, in the first paragraph, and eventually in Alt Text in figure(s).
