Most everyone far and wide is familiar with Etsy. If not, Etsy is a humongous marketplace platform for selling handmade crafts, craft supplies and vintage items for mostly home businesses. It’s very popular worldwide especially in the US, UK and Australia.

Etsy also has an affiliate marketing program that you can apply to through a link at the bottom of their home page. They work through a company called Awin, so that is who you would be directed to for application.

Sovrn is another affiliate marketing platform that hosts several retailers, including Etsy. So, if you sign up as an affiliate with Sovrn, you can create affiliate links with them as well, or instead of.

So, What Else is New?

Well, Etsy has just released EtsyGPT, a free AI-powered browser extension plug-in.

It uses OpenAI’s ChatGPT to generate listing titles and descriptions for Etsy sellers, providing them with a technologically cutting edge way to optimize their listings, new or current, with the help of AI technology

It currently works with these browsers:

  • Google Chrome version 107 and later
  • Microsoft Edge version 107 and later
  • Mozilla Firefox version 109 and later
  • Mozilla Firefox version 102 (ESR)
  • Safari version 15 and later
HOW DOES IT HELP?

As mentioned, ChatGPT interfaces with EtsyGPT allowing it to generate high ranking titles and descriptions based on any seller's listing information.

Obviously, for new listings, it will allow a seller to study stats and keywords of top sellers, in order to create the best title, description and keywords for more effective listings and improved SEO.

Seller’s Current listings can be reworked for optimization also, by studying the stats of top sellers.

As of December 2022, Etsy sellers can join their affiliates program and market other shops products as they would like Amazon, etc. In addition, they are eligible to earn commission on sales from their own shops.

It’s beneficial for affiliate marketers who are not sellers, as it will produce stats, keywords, titles, and descriptions all the same, to use on any Etsy product you may be promoting on your website, or any social media outlet.

YouTube has also started their version of reels which they call “shorts”. They are user created videos which can last up to 59 seconds for most any content, including affilate marketing.

How does EtsyGPT work?

Have an account with openAI.

Install the EtsyGPT plugin.

Open Etsy in your browser.

Choose a product in your niche most like the one you want to list or affiliate market. Choose one that has a very high sales volume to populate the plugin table with choice keywords from the open listing.

On the Etsy listing page, you’ll see under the title, blue text that says Title Generator.

Further down at the listing description, is the button or blue text for Description Generator

If you click either blue text, the plugin activates and a window with a table pops up.

Below that is a stats table listing keywords pulled from the product you have open in your browser. It allows you to see which keywords are the highest ranking in four categories:

  • number of views,
  • number of favorites,
  • how much competition that keyword has, and
  • number of sales generated from that keyword.

The chart is color-coded for a visual reference as to picking the best keywords from those listed, (light green is best, dark red is most saturated) to generate a title and description for your purposes.

You are going to choose optimal keywords from this list, that you want to use to generate a title and/or description for your use (listing or marketing). From what WA has taught us we basically want to choose highly searched keywords, but with low competition.

Choose by ticking the bubble on the right or typing them in the boxes above.

Once plugged in, tick generate, and your results will show in the bottom section giving you three choices you can copy or export.

If you don’t like those titles, just remove the data from the section, rinse and repeat.

Interestingly, Erank and Marmalead are pay for use programs specifically for Etsy, that does this very thing, but more indepth. In fact, from their own videos, they pay a lot of money to Etsy for their data in order to give Erank users (Etsy sellers) stats and data to get an edge on the competition.

It’s puzzling why Etsy would want to provide this tool for free. We’ll have to see how this develops.

In summation, Etsy has jumped on the GPT train to help their users improve their SEO rankings within their platform, and for affiliate marketers to use for marketing purposes. For now, it’s free so it would be worth your time to install the plugin and give it a try. You’ll have one more tool under your belt.
