Help--Gives a quick rundown of how your Wordpress editor works, plus some "hot buttons"--letters and numbers you can type instead of hovering your cursor over the necessary icon.

HTML Source Editor--Briefly, the source editor enables you to quickly make changes to the html code of the text you are writing. The text in html form shows up in a pop-up window, allowing your to quickly insert the html code to change your text. Extremely handy for those who know html code.

I

Indent--Adds a generic decrease to the text line.

Insert A Line Break--Clicking on this button will place any text that is to the right of your cursor on a new line.

Insert Date--Does just that. Wherever your cursor is in your text, it will put in the days date.

Insert/Edit An Advanced Link--An advanced link option.

Insert/Edit Anchor--This will link text and graphics so that if you have to move the text somewhere the graphics will go too, without messing up the look.

Insert/Edit An Image--This enables you to put an image on your page or post from any place on the internet if you know the URL.

Insert/Edit Attributes--Handles style, I.D.s, titles and classes. Also JavaScript calls. That's all I know.

Insert/Edit embedded media--A way of inserting media using html code.

Insert/Edit Image--Does the same job your "Add Media" tab does.

Insert/Edit Link--If you want to link a word or a phrase to another part of your website or to another website entirely, you can highlight the word or phrase and press this icon. In the top bar you type the URL for the place you want to link to, or click on the box that says "or link to existing content" and choose from the menu below it, which will be all the pages you have currently published on that website. If you want people to look at the content you have linked to but don't want them to leave the page they are currently on, also click on the little box that says, "Open link in a new window/tab". Don't forget to click "Save" at the bottom right of your pop-up box!

Insert HTML5 Tags--HTML5 is essentially an upgrade from HTML 4.01. It was necessary to upgrade the language because some of the HTML 4.01 has become obsolete. If you are writing your own html code you can insert the upgraded tags here to better handle today's internet use.

Insertion--This particular button allows you to note changes or extra information. It underlines the highlighted text and allows you to put in a window with your notation when the reader mouses over it.

Insert More--This handy little icon will create an exerpt on your blogroll for each post you make. Just put the tag wherever you want it and the front page will display only the content that goes before the tag, replacing the rest of the post with a link that shows up on your website as "read more". This makes it handy for people to scan multiple posts on your page and choose only the ones they actually want to read. It also helps them to find a particular post more quickly.

Insert New Layer--Adds a layer of text over existing text or image. But apparently some people have trouble with it being kind of "glitchy". It works most often in the Firefox browser but no guarantees.

Insert Shortcodes--"Shortcodes" are just that--short bits of html code that can be inserted to change the functionality of image or post when you are writing code. Html code-writing can be tedious because much of it is in long strings. Because they are long, there is also an increased chance of error. It's easy to make a typo error and one wrong letter can mess up a code. So shortcodes are valuable because they cut down on the amount of html you actually have to write.

Insert Table--Enables you to create a table for your post or page. Pretty easy to learn and use after some practice. Creates tables from the simple to the complex.

Insert Time--Wherever your cursor is in your text, clicking on this icon will insert the current time.

Insert YouTube Video--One of my favorite ways to gussy up a page. Just click on this icon, add the URL of the YouTube video you want shown, click "insert" and voila!

Italic--Italicizes your writing, like this.

I was too, and could have used a quick reference. I actually have it printed out because I keep forgetting what some of the icons do
because I don't use some of them a lot or even at all. Thanks for the comment, Isabella!

Kind of you to say so, Jayne. A lot of them are icons that are added if you put in the Ultimate Tiny MCE plugin, which I personally think is a
must-have for any site. You can read more about installing it and it's uses here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/ultimate-tinymce-plugin-the-ultimate-training/a_aid/702740bb
