Adding videos to posts and pages in WordPress has become very simple and easy to do, compared to what I had to do years back as a blogger. Back then you had to know and work with html code to insert a properly sized video into a post.
Not so today. This is easy and, whether you've used videos in posts before, but want some more info on how to make the process simpler and well understood, or, whether you've never done it at all before, my hope is this brief tutorial will clear up any confusion and perhaps add some clarity to the process.
First off, go into your dashboard and open up the post you are wanting to add a video to, in your post editor, on "visual" mode. i like to surround the space where i want the video to go with a preceding sentence, a couple line spaces, and a following sentence, like this:
" m
Now, you want to switch to "text" mode, because that is the only mode in which you can insert html code, to embed the video in your post. It will not take in visual mode. So click on the "text" button in the upper right of your editor.
You are now in text mode, and you can insert the video html code here, which we will cover on the next page. When i first started doing this, I would write a word or phrase where i wanted to place the video and highlight it, like this:
Again, this is just what made sense to me, totally up to you - you can just leave, and remember, a space where you want to put the code.
Speaking of which, that's next. On page 2 we'll grab the html code from YouTube.
