4. Google. We use Google as the verifying site due to the very high volume of users.
Typically, 94%, of people are only interested on the results found on page one of Google, and if what they are not looking for is not contained within the first page, they simply adjust their search terms and retry. And around 63% of people only look at what is termed the “Golden Triangle”, which is the first 3 returns. So, you can see the effect that good keyword and backlinking can have.
5. How Search Engines Work
Whenever you are looking for an item, you enter the details of what you are searching for which brings up a list of answers within fractions of a second. Usually, there will be large amounts of websites of websites related to what you required.
This is done by the use of crawlers, sometimes referred to as spiders or bots, which navigate the internet syphoning millions of web pages.
This leads to an indexing, which is a list of results found organised during the crawling process.
Indexing produces a ranking which is an evaluation which determines what the site is about and its relevance to the search query.
6. Keyword Research.
Researching and leveraging the most common and highest quality keywords used by your audience is vital for ranking in the search results.
Keyword Research not only provides insight into your audience’s behaviour online but also their whole. You can discover a consumer’s questions, habits, and more, all from their search engine behaviour. To determine what keywords are to be used, you will have to look at some of the following:
- Similar words and phrasing
- Current search topics
- Search volume
- Cost Per Click (CPC)
- Level of competition
To find keywords you can use any of the following tools: (Note: the way that the keyword tools were found below, was done by putting the words “keyword search engines”, into Google search!!).
- Jaxxy (For obvious reasons).
- Google Keyword Search
- SEMRush
- MOZ’s Keyword Explorer
- Wordstream
- Backlinko.com
You should have a good understanding of what keywords you are going to use and for which the audience searches for, the order that they are in, and even the spelling can determine their relevance. The audience are the experts in what they want, not you, and so understanding them can very much assist you in creating an engaging, optimised content.
The content can be changed to suit you as and when necessary, as well as adapted to suit the needs of an ever changing market.
Keywords should be placed around your website in places, but exclusively to the following:
- Header
- Paragraph Copy
- Title(s)
- Content
- Image Alt Text
- Buttons
