Maybe you don't have enough traffic yet. Maybe your conversions aren't what they could be. Maybe you applied too early to the Associates Program before you got a decent amount of traffic.

Whatever the reason, you need to figure out how to generate 3 sales in 180 days to keep your account from closing. You don't want to reapply and have to redo all those affiliate links!

Disclaimer: This strategy might not work for everyone.

This is how I did it without decent traffic to my site and WITHOUT breaking the Amazon Associates Policies. I did not have my friends use my links.

Warning

  • This is not about making money. This is about making a minimum of 3 sales to keep your account open.

Step One

Do you have a Facebook profile? Are you a member of a few fun groups? Do you have quite a few friends or followers on your page?

I used Facebook and Facebook Groups because I'm a member of quite a few bookish groups. The one in particular I used was an unofficial fan group for an author I love. I've been in that group for years.

This works best if the group is large.

Step Two

READ THE GROUP'S RULES!

Find a relevant, but inexpensive, product that might be useful to the members, or to someone asking a question in the group.

DO NOT SPAM PRODUCT LINKS!

You will get yourself banned or possibly in Facebook jail. Use a group you're already a part of, be authentic and relevant.

Step Three

For example:

My Facebook group is an author fanclub, basically. So when one of that author's ebooks went on sale for $1.99. I went and actually created the post on my website's Facebook page, I made sure to use #amazon and #ad tags, so the relationship of the link is established, and I shared that post to my group.

The beauty of this is that I was already sharing ebook sale links to book groups way before I became an affiliate marketer. I was doing it to help fellow members out saving money. So I didn't change my strategy much, I just used an affiliate link instead.

Boom, I had a LOT of sales. But not a lot of money as your commissions for a $2 product is pennies. But making money wasn't the point. Keeping my account active is the point.

That's It!

You'll have to tailor your product to whatever groups you belong to or if you're helping a member on Facebook, you can use an affiliate link, too. Use a super cheap product. You aren't going to make money with this approach. It's not about the money. It's about 3 sales.

Again, DO NOT SPAM! Check your group's rules first! Sometimes you can only post buy links on specific days, or can only self-promote on specific days, or whatever.

Now if you have 13k people following your FB page, you might make money posting products there.

But until then, just use it to make 3 sales, breathe easier, and continue working on your site.

This is just what I was looking for. I've always been wary of Facebook, but I guess I can bite the bullet. So many cases and lawsuits and they keep your info forever. But I have to do this job now that I've started, and that's going to need to include social media, which I've never used as a personal means of communication. (I'm older, so we didn't grow up with this, although most my age also use it.) This is exactly what I need to concentrate on while producing more content and finishing Kyle's course. I think I'm gradually being made comfortable about spending more and more time every day--I definitely wasn't at first when I couldn't quite figure out where I was. That Live Chat is fabulous. And so are you. Thanks again.

You're amazing at creating training! This is a very thorough resource that explains exactly what you said, and I can see how this would work very well.
I've done quite a bit of networking in the Facebook groups and that's how I was able to get lots of sales for my books. Great advice!

Aw, thank you! Coming from you, that means a lot!

Facebook marketing can definitely be useful for book sales! You have to stay on top of it though if it's part of your marketing strategy.

But to keep your account open so you don't have to change links, that's golden! I've seen a lot of members complaining about the 3 sale rule.

It likely could work for making money too, but its not as passive as affiliate marketing. Your post only gets seen for a limited time on FB. And too many people spam.

Hopefully this helps some people avoid getting their Associates account closed.
