To Increase you chance of acceptance, you want to take a moment and be sure to do the following steps before you apply.

1. Set Up Your Website

This might seem obvious to some of you, but a lot of beginners at Wealthy Affiliate want to jump right into the Monetization part of affiliate marketing.

I know, I know. We all want to make a living doing this. But take a moment before you jump into signing up for affilate programs.

Amazon Associates, and other affiliate programs, want a site that's already set up. They don't want a site that's under construction or only has one post and no content.

For this reason, at least get your site set up, some content written, your disclosures and policy pages up, and an about me page done. Do some work first.

2. Set Up Your Social Media Channels for Your Business

If you plan on using Facebook or Instagram or Pinterest to promote your Amazon affiliate links, then you'll want to include the links to your pages on your Amazon Associates application. So get them set up.

You can always add these later, of course, but for my strategy to work for you guys, you at least need to add a Facebook page. So set that up.

3. Read the Program Policies!!!

You do not want to be thrown out of the Amazon Associates program for a simple mistake. You want to be absolutely sure to follow Amazon's policies as well as any social media channel you're using.

I seriously recommend you do this. I will highlight the "Don'ts" in the next section, but I'm not going to cover it all. The Amazon Associates program has one of the most stringent policies of any affiliate program.

4. Apply to be an Associate

Go to http://affiliate-program.amazon.com/ (or another country's Amazon) and click the Join Now For Free.

You can join with your current Amazon account or create a new account, if you want. I recommend using your current account that you normally use because of a handy feature called the Site Stripe.

Be prepared to discuss your website and website goals and subjects. This is why you need to create a working website first. You need to be able to describe it, describe your promitional techniques, and why you want to promote Amazon products.

Make sure to fill out the payment and tax information. Be honest. Fill it out completely.

5. Approval

You will be 'temporarily' approved, most likely. Unless your website has adult content (porn), promotes violence, or anything illegal, you will get a temporary approval.

You will be then informed you have 180 days to make 3 sales to keep your account active.

This rule is to cut down on inactive accounts. If you give up, change your mind, etc. your account will be closed.

So, now you need to know what NOT to do to make sure your account stays open, right?

This is just what I was looking for. I've always been wary of Facebook, but I guess I can bite the bullet. So many cases and lawsuits and they keep your info forever. But I have to do this job now that I've started, and that's going to need to include social media, which I've never used as a personal means of communication. (I'm older, so we didn't grow up with this, although most my age also use it.) This is exactly what I need to concentrate on while producing more content and finishing Kyle's course. I think I'm gradually being made comfortable about spending more and more time every day--I definitely wasn't at first when I couldn't quite figure out where I was. That Live Chat is fabulous. And so are you. Thanks again.

You're amazing at creating training! This is a very thorough resource that explains exactly what you said, and I can see how this would work very well.
I've done quite a bit of networking in the Facebook groups and that's how I was able to get lots of sales for my books. Great advice!

Aw, thank you! Coming from you, that means a lot!

Facebook marketing can definitely be useful for book sales! You have to stay on top of it though if it's part of your marketing strategy.

But to keep your account open so you don't have to change links, that's golden! I've seen a lot of members complaining about the 3 sale rule.

It likely could work for making money too, but its not as passive as affiliate marketing. Your post only gets seen for a limited time on FB. And too many people spam.

Hopefully this helps some people avoid getting their Associates account closed.
