My chief interests in my life have always been the arts--especially dance and music, and I have 2 degrees from Juilliard in piano. I've done many classical solo concerts as well as cocktail pianist at clubs, hotels and partiers. I'm a baby boomer and live in Manhattan, New York. I have a few close friends and spend time with them in person or occasionally emails. I've also written and published 3 art-books in collaboration with 2 painters, which were published in Switzerland.

I'm also very interested in clothes, and expect to choose my niche from Men's Clothing, although obviously I'll narrow that.

I've done survey work in the last few years on Amazon's Mechanical Turk, which has been handy for extra pocket money, but it is insufficient no matter how hard you try, although I'll keep doing it.

I'm single and live alone. My hobbies are seeing ballet, either live or on video, of which I own several, and going to art galleries, which I love to do for exercise and also I have gotten to know some of the gallery people, who have started inviting me to their openings in person. I often talk to them about the techniques involved in the highly varied artworks, which is very different from what you can do in museums.

I remain in close contact with my remaining siblings either on the phone or email. They all still live in the South, where I grew up.

Politics is something I follow quite closely in the Washington Post and New York Times, for both of which I have subscriptions.

Thank you--:Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Welcome to the club. You will find as you work through the training and chat in the community, that you and I are not alone. Many baby boomers are working hard to boost their retirement funds within Wealthy Affiliate.

All the best,

Welcome. How nice you live so close to so many art galleries. I wish . . . When I was younger I painted and even won some awards (a best of show even). However, I had to do the 9-5 thing and was pretty brain dead as far as far a creativity after work and weekends. I am hoping that WA will enable me to supplement my retirement income and paint again.
Wishing you the best.

Hi Patrick, how are you finding it so far? Have you started on the 'Get Started Here' training yet? That's honestly the best place to begin building your business....this is the exact training that I followed that got me to where I am today.

As always, let me know how you get on and I'm here to help : )

I think I started that with 'Grace' 'littlemama', but I haven't joined yet, have had a busy week and just found these messages. I expect to join in a day or two, but Grace said 'do a free website first', so I;m not sure where I should go from here, Mainly, I don't think 'music' is necessarily right if I'm not interested more in today's pop, rap, etc. Thanks for any advice.

Hey Patrick, you've joined already and you're in the members area :)

The next step is simply clicking on the green arrow training button on the left and starting your course.

Yes, as a Starter member you can build 2 free sites here. Music is very broad but definitely has a lot of smaller, potential niches that can be very profitable. The training will guide you through what to do and help you think out the right niche for you.

Let us know how you get on. :)

Thank you! That helps a lot! I am looking forward to starting in earnest now. When I start something, I tend to think I ought to know it beforehand! which is totally irrational, of course.

I get that lol, don't worry though, I think you're gonna love the training. I know I did... it's an amazing feeling when you see all the pieces come together and have that "aha!" moment.

i'm finally going to be able to give full time to this today. I wrote Grace and asked some questions, and I see I won't be able to ask questions if I don't do Premuim Upgrade, so I've decided to do that before even starting the training, because I've never been as business-oriented as many of you, and just won't know basic things. Grace's 6 day mails always encourage me to get the Upgrade, and than maybe I can feel secure. I think 'Classical Ballet and Piano Music' is a more practical niche, that just 'ballet music' is the 'right track', as Kyle says, but so tiny a niche that it really is TOO tiny. Since it will take some months to make any money, there's no point doing it if I don't make it so I can make some. I also do NOT to Twtiiter and Facebook, and have only a few close friends (real world, my blogger friends and I discuss these on a ballet board forum), and I'm in my 60s, so I have family but none who would respond to this.

So I'll wait to hear from Grace, I guess, and then do the Premuim Upgrade. I had thought of doing that later, but much better to do it while I'm comfortable paying for it, and can do the $49 for months, but will wait to do the year later if I can get this to work for me. You all sound very positive, and I am sure I will get more that way once I get into the work. I just wanted to air out my disadvantages (don't want niche to 'exotic' it won't draw anything) and since I don't do social media except blogs and forums, I will need to be in constant contact with the community to fell comfortable that I can get something going..

Best to all---Patrick

That's great to hear Patrick, my best advice would be for you to go through the Online Certification course and work though everything step by step. Don't rush. I've seen people skip through and end up struggling for months because they missed a vital 'brick in the wall'.

The main emphasis is on getting traffic from search engines, Google obviously being the main one. Social is good too, but best not to spend too much time on social as it can easily become a distraction (trust me, I tried it lol)

Yeah that niche has real potential. I find it helpful to think about a niche, not in terms of products, but as a community of people you're going to help.

A site for people interested in classical/ballet music could be monetised in a wide variety of ways and if you genuinely enjoy talking about these topics, it'll make the 'work' part of building your site feel a lot less like work.

Don't forget to enjoy the journey. :)

Thank you for such quick reply, Simon I just happen to already know a good bit about these things, so researching for this would only be enhancing something I'd be doing anyway. Although I am very interested in fashion and clothes, I don't know nearly as much to be confident about it.

So, just to bother you a touch more...shouldn't I go ahead and do the Upgrade and start work on the Online Certification courses both today? Without the Upgrade, I think I won't feel secure enough, and can't ask anybody questions. And it will inspire me to work harder, I think, because I will need clarification from you and others for awhile. Thanks. .

Sounds like you already know your niche!

For sure, you can upgrade at any time. I became a Premium member 3 days after I joined and that was 5 yrs ago and I have no plans on leaving :)

I simply would not be where I am today without the step by step training, easy website tools and the amazing support of the community. It's well worth it in my view,

We're all here to help each other, encourage each other and spur each other onto success. So many people helped me out in the beginning and now I get a kick out of helping others.
